In back-to-back days (Monday and Tuesday), the Supreme Court handed President Trump victories when it came to protecting his coveted tax returns. But apparently, good news for Trump meant no news at all because the broadcast networks largely ignored the victories during their flagship morning and evening newscasts. Only the Tuesday edition of ABC’s Good Morning America noted the President’s win from the day before.
On Tuesday, ABC’s Good Morning America and NBC’s Today continued the liberal media’s attempt to force-feed the American people every twist and turn of the left’s attempt to remove President Donald Trump from office. Following up on their Monday night celebrations that a federal judge ordered former White House counsel Don McGahn to testify before Congress, the ABC and NBC newscasts boasted about this new “blow” and “scathing judgement.”
Despite the fact, polls showed that as impeachment dragged on more and more people were souring on it, ABC, CBS, and NBC were excited for the possibility of even more House hearings. Their Monday excitement was spurred on by the ruling of a federal court judge, who said former White House Counsel Don McGahn had to testify before Congress. The ruling went against what the White House was hoping for and the broadcast networks were absolutely giddy thinking about this could affect impeachment.
Despite how they were dismissive of his truthfulness prior to Wednesday and the fact that he could not directly implicate President Trump in a quid pro quo scheme with Ukraine, ABC, CBS, and NBC heralded the public testimony of E.U. Ambassador Gordon Sondland as a “bombshell” from “the most pivotal witness yet.”
After ABC on Wednesday boasted Democrats were “serious” and U.S. Ambassador Bill Taylor was like Walter Cronkite, the post-hearing coverage led a few panelists to painstakingly concede that the hearing would not change anyone’s minds about impeachment. On the other hand, there was a hilarious back-and-forth with former Clinton official/chief anchor George Stephanopoulos and senior national correspondent Terry Moran to bemoan how more haven’t crossed over to call for Trump’s removal because they’re too blinded by Trump’s “version of American populism.”
On Friday, journalists on NBC’s Today show and ABC’s Good Morning America were giddy as they touted nasty excerpts from the new book, A Warning, an anti-Trump screed from a supposed anonymous administration official. Despite not knowing the person’s identity or being able to verify a single claim in the book, reporters rushed to label it “explosive” and a “bombshell.”
Do you remember that New York Times op-ed by that anonymous and self-righteous Trump administration official published last year titled “I Am Part of the Resistance Inside the Trump Administration?” Well, they’re back for a big payday with a new anti-Trump book they wrote anonymously, of course. As would be expected, the liberal media pounced with ABC and NBC gushing about the book in their Tuesday evening newscasts.
Over 72-hours. It has been over 72-hours since ABC’s World News Tonight first falsely claimed a special event at a gun range in Kentucky was footage of a Turkish attack on civilian Kurds in northern Syria. And in that 72-hours, the network had rejected all calls for an on-air correction, apology, and explanation to their viewers as to how the misinformation made it through their supposedly rigorous vetting process.
On Friday, all three network morning shows seemed shocked that President Trump would spend time during a 2020 campaign rally Thursday night attacking Democrats over their impeachment push. Reporters were aghast that Trump would launch “vicious attacks on his Democratic rivals” and describe impeachment “in almost apocalyptic terms.”
During their Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning newscasts, the major broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, and NBC) seized on a newly released anonymous whistleblower memo that described the reaction of one White House official listening to President Trump’s call with the president of Ukraine. The keywords that elevated their intrigue involved the official calling the call “crazy” and “frightening.”
Former Vice President Joe Biden got a lot of positive coverage from the liberal media on Wednesday after he called for President Trump’s impeachment while campaigning against him in New Hampshire. The major broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, and NBC) hoisted up Biden’s demands with a combined 4 minutes and 20 seconds of largely enthusiastic coverage.
After the ABC and CBS evening newscasts on Monday hyped fears that President Trump was supposedly endangering the life of an anonymous government whistleblower by demanding to know the identity of the impeachment accuser, on Tuesday, Good Morning America wildly speculated that the President’s request could itself be an impeachable offense.
