If House Democrats are sinking to a new low by using their subpoena power to rummage through the President's personal tax returns, you wouldn't know it by the way they have been treated on CNN over the past few days. Hosts on the liberal cable network have routinely lobbed softballs at Democratic interviewees, while challenges to the legitimacy of their quest see the President’s taxes were few and far between.
On Tuesday, we learned of a Saturday incident at President Trump’s Mara-a-Lago resort where the Secret Service’s apparent incompetence struck again when a Chinese national managed to bluff her way past them only to be stopped by the receptionist. But according to a discussion of national security and cybersecurity experts on CNN’s Erin Burnett OutFront, it was somehow indicative of an administration that played fast and loose with America’s national security secrets.
“[T]he Special Counsel did not find that any U.S. person or Trump campaign official or associate conspired or knowingly coordinated with the [Russians] in [their] efforts…” That’s what Attorney General William Barr wrote in his letter to Congress summarizing the Mueller report. Yet, despite the facts compiled after two years of investigations, CNN continues to breathlessly push conspiratorial accusations of collusion between President Trump and Russia.
To close out Wednesday’s CNN Tonight, fill-in host Erin Burnett, a CNN correspondent, and two panelists spent over 10 minutes trying to muddy the waters on anti-Semitism, downplaying Minnesota Democratic Congresswoman Ilhan Omar’s long history of anti-Semitic comments because the President’s Charlottesville comments and white supremacists are the ones worth denouncing (instead of both). So, in other words, Orange Man Bad.
For all the liberal media’s prior pontifications about Wednesday being a “split screen” between two major events for President Trump, the congressional testimony of his former personal lawyer Michael Cohen and the denuclearization summit with North Korea, they were sure to only give the latter just a few pixels.
On Wednesday night, CNN and MSNBC still had plenty of energy left to not only blast the President’s State of the Union address from the night before, but also go gaga for every movement and every word espoused by liberals. In the latter case, CNN’s Erin Burnett OutFront and MSNBC’s Hardball cheered House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s “Machiavellian genius” controlling the House and offering a snarky clap for the President that was “the clap...seen around the world.”
Over the weekend, calls mounted for Virginia Governor Ralph Northam to resign over racist photos that were found in his medical school yearbook. Yet the Democrat’s controversial comments supporting a radical abortion law proposed by his party was swept under the rug by the media. CNN even went out of its way to silence any conservative guests who tried to bring up that story on their network this weekend.
On Friday's Erin Burnett Outfront on CNN, during a discussion of revelations that Virginia Democratic Governor Ralph Northam included a racist photograph in his portion of his medical school's yearbook, frequent Republican guest Stephen Moore was lambasted and cut off by other panel members when he brought up the other controversy involving Northam from this week -- that he defended an extreme abortion legalization bill by speaking approvingly of allowing some babies to die immediately after birth if the mother chose to do so.
During Wednesday’s edition of Erin Burnett OutFront, the eponymous host and her panel reacted to White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders’s declaration that God “wanted Donald Trump to become President” during an interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network. Burnett seemed to think that God playing a role in the electoral politics of the United States posed a direct threat to democracy.
On Tuesday, talk-radio star Rush Limbaugh dove into the media freakout over President Trump's fast-food banquet for the national college football champions, the Clemson Tigers. He singled out CNN's Erin Burnett for crying sexism. "The president said something so offensive that upon hearing it a cable news infobabe nearly lost her cookies. Do you remember the sound bite? It was only a few seconds. Do you know what he might have said that just sent somebody into orbit?...Right! That the first lady would be making salads!"
Appearing on CNN’s Erin Burnett OutFront “for her first national primetime interview,” Democratic Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib (MI) faced questions Tuesday from the eponymous host about her now-infamous “mother****er” comment about impeaching President Trump, except many of them were sympathetic to Tlaib’s case.
Over the past 10 days, journalists on CNN and MSNBC have dutifully repeated the Democrats’ claim that “the walls are closing in” around President Trump. Cable hosts and their guests have used this precise verbiage a total of 50 times since December 10 – and that’s not including the instances in which Democratic politicians repeated the assertion on TV.
