Liberal View co-host Joy Behar stepped in it again on Wednesday. Ranting about Donald Trump, she lamented that “God forbid” the “sociopath” might “live another 20 years.” The comment was cringe-worthy enough that Behar backtracked after a commercial break, exclaiming, “I didn’t mean that, what I said.”
The left has provided us with some head-scratching internecine debates, but this one from Hollywood -- involving progressive actresses Susan Sarandon and Debra Messing -- is the dumbest in quite some time.
Planned Parenthood’s new president calls her organization “transparent,” even as she insists abortion consists of only 3% of its services. That’s a number even The Washington Post has debunked. But, according to her, this isn’t “political.” On Sept. 12, the nation’s largest abortion provider announced its incoming president: Dr. Lena Wen. In response, ABC’s The View invited Wen on as a guest the next day.
It just got a lot harder to believe that Google doesn’t have any bias against conservatives. After Tucker Carlson released a leaked email from a Google director saying that the company tried to influence Latino voters, Breitbart released a video of Google execs talking to a large audience of employees the day after the election. Google co-founder Sergey Brin told the company that he was “deeply offended” by the results of the election, which “conflicted with many of the company’s values.”
Whether you believe that Pope Francis is pushing a liberal agenda in the Catholic Church or not, the liberal media does, and it’s clear that they will do their best to defend him from criticism. Thursday’s USA Today article deflected earnest criticisms of the pope by painting him as an innocent victim, suffering a clerical abuse scandal pushed by critics hoping to oust him.
During Wednesday’s edition of CNN’s New Day, co-hosts Alisyn Camerota and John Berman and their panel complained about President Trump’s description of the federal government’s handling of Hurricane Maria as a “success.” Camerota described that assertion as “hurtful,” while Berman described it as “not true.” CNN Legal Analyst Jeffrey Toobin, on the other hand, suggested President Trump had a much more sinister motive for his response to the hurricane that ravaged the island territory of Puerto Rico last year.
In 2006 Brad Pitt came to the rescue of New Orleans residents with his plan to build affordable homes for those displaced by Hurricane Katrina. There was just one problem. His liberal obsession to fight climate change – by using “cheap recycled materials” – means those homes are now falling apart.
For a second day in a row, The View host Sunny Hostin went on a tirade against President Trump for his comments touting the government aid given to Hurricane Maria hitting Puerto Rico last September. After media backlash, Trump doubled down and claimed the media had exaggerated the death toll. On Thursday's show, Hostin was irate at the President’s comments, saying this made him an “illegitimate president” and blamed a century old U.S. maritime law for the island being in financial ruin.
Reacting to former President Jimmy Carter advising Democrats to appeal to independents and “middle of the road” voters in the midterm elections, pundits on Thursday’s Morning Joe tried to think of moderate Democrats who could run for president in 2020. Co-host Mika Brzezinski didn’t quite grasp the term “moderate” as she suggested left-wing California Senator Kamala Harris as an option, promoting laughter from the MSNBC panel.
Is the New York Times using a “Year of the Woman” reporting angle to sneak in unchallenging coverage of anti-Trump Democrats into their paper (and into higher office)? Kate Zernike’s profile of a New Jersey Democrat led the paper’s National section: “Jousting With Election Opponents and Wiping Runny Noses.” Zernike didn’tgo after her subjects with hard journalistic scrutiny, leading the cheers instead. Welcome to the Bob Woodward filibuster. The veteran journalist appeared on CBS This Morning, Thursday, and was quizzed about the network’s evolving sex scandal. But rather than talk about this difficult subject, Woodward first responded, in an answer that lasted 1 minute and 40 seconds, by talking about his books and friends at the network. CBS’s former CEO (Les Moonves), the co-host of This Morning (Charlie Rose), and the executive producer of 60 Minutes (Jeff Fager) have all been forced out due to allegations of sex abuse, harassment or inappropriate treatment of women.
Wednesday's The Beat on MSNBC displayed the latest example of the liberal media's tendency to trumpet polls that seem to confirm their liberal views while ignoring other polling which undermines those views. During a discussion about the possibility that the U.S. Supreme Court would overturn Roe v. Wade if Judge Brett Kavanaugh were confirmed, host Ari Melber turned to pro-abortion activist Ricki Stern and cited a recent Axios poll as he posed:
If there’s one thing that CNN legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin can’t be accused of, it’s keeping his opinions about President Trump a secret. He denounces the President seemingly every chance he gets. Lately, he’s taking to decrying many things the President does and says as somehow racist. During Wednesday’s Tucker Carlson Tonight, Carlson called Toobin out for his hyperbolic wailing.
Over inside the home of the “Democracy Dies in Darkness” slogan on Wednesday, The Washington Post’s lead editorial argued that President Donald Trump “is complicit” in the destruction being caused by hurricanes, including the forecasted pain set to be inflicted in Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina by Hurricane Florence.
The left is determined to try to normalize abortion as much as possible in today’s world. The most recent episode of the CW’s Burden of Truth gets downright flippant with its dialogue between female characters discussing abortion.
