Al Roker Apologizes to Liberal NYC Mayor for Predicting 'One Term' After Mayor Kept Schools Open

While in Russia for the Olympics, NBC morning weatherman Al Roker sent several hostile tweets at ultraliberal New York mayor Bill de Blasio for keeping the city's schools open during the winter storm. The most acidulous tweet said: "I knew this am @NYCMayorsOffice @NYCSchools would close schools. Talk about a bad prediction. Long range DiBlasio forecast: 1 term."

That raised from eyebrows in the Big Apple! Now Roker is apologizing for that remark, if  not for the gist of his attacks (or misspelling "de Blasio"):

"I do have one tweet that I do regret in the heat — I'm very passionate about the weather," he explained. "I made a prediction that there would be only one term of his administration. I apologize for that. That was a little below the line.” He added "Everything else, I still stand by, including the fact that the National Weather Service did forecast that [the storm's severity] on Wednesday."

"I respect Al Roker a lot. I watched him on TV for many, many years," de Blasio said on Thursday. "I respect all the meteorologists out there, but the one I respect the most is called the National Weather Service. And this did — and they just affirmed to us on the call before we came out to you — that this went faster and heavier than their projections last night. And that happens. It is — it's weather. None of us controls it."
