Schieffer: "So, who knows what's going to happen? But this has to be a sign to Republicans that they, they might lose the House, I think. I mean, not just, I'm not just saying this, this particular race....But I think this is just one more sign that you might see something happen this time."
Now, keep in mind, this is a race that the Republicans won. A victory that was achieved despite the media’s constant parroting of the Democratic "culture of corruption" talking points. Mr. Schieffer continued his "moral victory" theme with an oddball analogy:
Schieffer: "No, the Democrats didn't win. But I mean, in that particular district, it would be, if a Democrat got elected, it would be like George Wallace winning a seat in Harlem or something like that."
Perhaps this was an homage to Dan Rather and his rather bizarre election night sayings. When asked about the fate of the pending immigration bill, the CBS anchor replied:
Schieffer: "...I think there's a very good chance that Congress will wind up doing nothing on immigration, because you have such a difference in the House version of the legislation, and the Senate version, the House version says no path to citizenship. It, it offers no what, you know, the people who are so anti-immigration call amnesty."
Mr. Schieffer has made his positions on immigration quite clear. While covering the recent protests over congressional legislation, he often refused to utter the word illegal.
