Lefty Barbra Streisand Mocks Donald Trump With ‘Send in the Clowns’ Parody

It certainly should come as no surprise that Barbra Streisand -- a famous singer and very liberal Democrat -- decided to make fun of Donald Trump during a fund-raising event held for Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton when Streisand changed the lyrics to the song “Send in the Clowns” so they slammed the Republican presidential candidate.

The event, which took place on Friday in New York City, was referred to as an LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender)-focused occasion when the 73-year-old Grammy-winner altered the words to the 1973 Stephen Sondheim classic to ask “Who is this clown?”

The lyrics to the first verse stated: “Is he that rich? Maybe he's poor?/'Til he reveals his returns, who can be sure?/Who needs this clown?”

Next came: “Something's amiss, I don't approve./If he were running the free world, where would we move?/Name me a town. Just who is this clown?”

The first bridge continued to joke about Trump: “And when we thought we’d heard it all./Huffing and puffing about his big fantasy wall, making his entrance on stage./He just shoots from the hip./He’s full of bull, he’s lost his grip!”

In the third verse, the liberal celebrity sang: “And if by chance he gets to heav'n, even up there he'll declare Chapter Elev'n!/Who'd hire this clown? This sad vulgar clown./You're fired, you clown!

In the second bridge, Streisand sang: “Hillary's kind, smart that is clear./While she is giving us hope … Trump is selling us fear./Look how he changes his views every time that he speaks./It's lie after lie, can't take eight more weeks!”

During the final verse, she belted out: “This is no farce, maybe he's broke?/Is this 'The Art of His Deal?' Or some awful joke?/You've got to admit … this silly half-wit … is so full of s**t!”

According to an article by reporter Daniel Nussbaum of the Breitbart.com website, tickets to this event at Cipriani Wall Street “started at $1,200 for dinner and topped out at $250,000, with maximum contributors scoring a meet-and-greet with the candidate.”

Nussbaum also stated:

Streisand has raised money for the Democratic Party and has been particularly vocal in her support for Hillary Clinton this year.

During the first night of her cross-country tour in August, the singer said she hoped to have the chance to sing her hit song “Happy Days Are Here Again” when Clinton wins the presidency. Streisand previously sang at Bill Clinton’s inauguration gala in 1993.

“The singer has also made no secret of her disdain for Trump,” the reporter added. “In an August interview with 60 Minutes, Streisand said she would move to Australia if the billionaire businessman becomes president.”

Then in November, Streisand called the prospect of a Trump presidency “terrifyingly scary,” Nussbaum noted.

“Clinton was scheduled to travel to California for a series of fund-raisers in Los Angeles and San Francisco this week,” he stated. “However, that trip has been canceled due to her recent health scare.”

Her doctor, Lisa Bardack, issued the following statement:

Secretary Clinton has been experiencing a cough related to allergies. On Friday, during a follow-up evaluation of her prolonged cough, she was diagnosed with pneumonia. She was put on antibiotics and advised to rest and modify her schedule.

While at this morning’s event, she became overheated and dehydrated. I have just examined her and she is now re-hydrated and recovering nicely.

According to fellow Breitbart correspondent Adelle Nazarian: “Prior to Sunday’s episode, Clinton’s health had been the subject of numerous reports in the media. Some had dismissed the reports as mere conspiracy theories.”

As NewsBusters previously reported, this isn't the first time Streisand changed the words to a well-known song during a Democratic fund-raising event.

In late 2002, she reworded her hit song, “The Way We Were,” so it became: “So on next Election Day I pray that the country will deliver/A House without Tom Delay!/We need a team change, a definite regime change./Oh, that would be a regime change from the way we are.”

Streisand then stated: “We have the facts on our side … the truth on our side. We have to get the facts out … the truth out … and the vote out!”

She then sang: “So, in November, Let's make the Congress a Democratic Congress. The way we were, the way we were.”

Streisand will probably continue raising money for Hillary Clinton … just as long as the singer doesn't ask the candidate to sing a duet with her and run the risk of Clinton having another coughing fit right in the middle of the song. That pneumonia can be a tricky thing, after all.
