Maher: Guy Who Sent Ricin to Obama Leading in Polls for 2016 GOP Presidential Nominee

April 20th, 2013 3:40 PM

Before Bill Maher's moment of sanity concerning radical Islam Friday, HBO's Real Time host took a cheap shot at the GOP.

After a brief discussion about the man that sent ricin to President Obama this week, Maher said, "He's been apprehended, he's facing jail time, and he is leading in the polls for the Republican nomination for president in 2016" (video follows with transcript and commentary):

BILL MAHER: I tell you, between these two assholes and the douchebag who sent the ricin, did you see that, to President Obama this week, it makes me very nostalgic for the care-free days of last week when we were just being threatened by North Korea with nuclear annihilation. I tell you. You think there are enough people out there who are just f--king nuts in this country?

The guy who sent the ricin, did you read about this guy, Paul Kevin Curtis is he name. He believed he had uncovered a conspiracy to sell human body parts on the black market and the government was in on it. Well, he's been apprehended, he's facing jail time, and he is leading in the polls for the Republican nomination for president in 2016.

Isn't that hysterical?

Of course, throughout his 60 minute program, despite lengthy discussions about the Boston Marathon bombings, Maher didn't mention that the apprehended suspect is alleged to be a supporter of Barack Obama's.

I wonder why that is.

*****Update: What potentially makes this even more laughable is that judging from the profile picture at his Facebook page, Curtis appears to be a Democrat:

You were saying, Bill?
