High crimes and misdemeanors what? If you thought MSNBC hosts were severely lacking in their constitutional knowledge before, you have not heard Ari Melber’s latest commentary. During Wednesday’s MSNBC impeachment special coverage, Melber tried to change the standards for impeachment by claiming that no crime is needed for the President to be removed from office.
Former failed Democratic nominee for president and Secretary of State John Kerry took his initiative to declare war on climate change to CNN Newsroom on Tuesday where he found an agreeable audience in co-hosts Jim Sciutto and Poppy Harlow. Throughout the segment they could be heard adding the approval to Kerry's long list of contradictions, non-sequiturs, and belief that history began in 2017 when Donald Trump became president.
Dave Rubin has launched two platforms on the same day, which he believes could solve the free speech and censorship problem online. In a Dec. 4 livestream, the host of the Rubin Report Dave Rubin described two platforms he created, Locals.com and the Rubin Report app, which have gone public today. Rubin said that he created the platforms to help solve the “massive problems with Big Tech” that we all know exist, including things like deplatforming, algorithmic suppression and shadow banning. Locals.com, he said, will be where creators, as long as they are not engaging in illegal activity, will be able to establish online communities and be fundraised by their fans. “You’re going to set your rules, whatever rules you want for your community,” he said.
YouTube defines itself as an “open video platform,” where videos that don’t break the rules are free to flourish. But a new blog from the company contradicts its own statement. “The Fours Rs of Responsibility, Part 2” detailed the 30 changes YouTube made to its algorithms in the last year in order to promote what it labelled “authoritative news” and to demote “borderline content.”
World leader and queen of the mean girls, Justin Trudeau has got lefty tongues wagging over video of his alleged gossip about President Donald J. Trump during this week’s NATO summit. And even though Trudeau is an effete, blackface-wearing hypocrite, celebrity twitter heralded his behind-the-back antics as some heroic Trump takedown. Of course this is the pettiest news of the year, but then again, this is both Canada and Hollywood we’re talking about.
If you ask CBS, there sure are a lot of moderate Democrats running for president. During the early stages of the 2020 race, CBS This Morning political correspondent Ed O’Keefe has labeled numerous liberal candidates as “moderates” or “centrists.” He’s not even totally sure if Kamala Harris, the Democratic Senator from California who just dropped out, is a liberal.
On Wednesday, all three network morning shows were completely enthralled with Democrats on the House Intelligence Committee releasing a partisan report calling for the impeachment of President Trump. Despite the obvious one-sided nature of the 300-page document, anchors on NBC, ABC, and CBS led their respective broadcasts by touting the report as “damning,” “blistering,” and representing “impeachment’s new phase.”
The liberal media-dubbed “patrician populist” Tom Steyer, who once decried “‘the corporate stranglehold on democracy,’” has continued to spend millions on liberal causes this election cycle. Steyer is the top federal contributor to outside groups, according to data from Open Secrets. In total, he contributed $23,987,925 to liberal causes in the 2020 election cycle, now having outspent 15 of the top conservative donors combined ($23,460,327).
Minutes before Wednesday’s House Judiciary Committee impeachment inquiry hearing began, ABC journalists were already spinning what Republicans would say as nonsense. ABC’s Senior Congressional Correspondent Mary Bruce and Senior White House Correspondent Cecilia Vega dismissed Republicans as stooges for President Trump who would stop at nothing to disrupt the hearing with their “theatrics."
During the past several years, the New York Times has been expanding its reach into cable television programming in an effort to remain relevant to TV viewers across the country. The latest aspect of that strategy was announced on Monday, when representatives of the liberal newspaper stated they were changing from their usually hidden endorsement process for Democratic candidates in that party’s primaries to airing parts of interviews with those contenders on the paper’s FX channel program, which is entitled The Weekly.
Big Tech CEOs for Apple, Google, Microsoft, and other companies signed an agreement with a labor union leader stating that they would uphold the standards set by the Paris Agreement. The United States government, under President Trump, pulled out of the Paris Agreement in 2017, the only country to do so. The statement signed by 78 CEOs said, “[M]any of us came together to rally behind the US’ participation in the Paris Agreement. We came to say we are still in.”
On Monday's Amanpour & Co. show on PBS (also shown on CNN International), host Christiane Amanpour devoted a segment to interviewing the director of a film, titled Incitement, that has come under criticism for suggesting right-leaning Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu helped stoke up "incitement" that led to the 1995 assassination of left-leaning Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin by a Jewish extremist.
The Democratic field for the 2020 nomination continued to shrink on Tuesday after self-declared top-tier candidate Senator Kamala Harris (CA) dropped out due to a lack of funds. In response, CBS Evening News and NBC Nightly News ran reports mourning the loss of her campaign, with one noting that the upcoming Democratic debate would only consist of white people now. But surprisingly, an ABC report singed Harris on her way out.
That’s right, folks. On Tuesday’s Hardball, MSNBC contributor and former Obama administration lackey Ben Rhodes bemoaned President Trump’s foreign policy as “fundamentally corrupting,” “not how our government is supposed to work,” and “a criminal enterprise...that...was not in the U.S. national interest” that’s unrivaled in our history.
Despite the fact that House Republicans on the Intelligence Committee released their impeachment findings a full day ahead of Democrats, the liberal broadcast networks granted their team 10 times the coverage in just one evening. ABC’s World News Tonight, CBS Evening News, and NBC Nightly News granted the GOP report a measly 54 seconds of combined airtime. NBC actually ignored the GOP report during their Tuesday newscast.
