On Thursday, Empire actor and apparent hoaxer Jussie Smollett was formally charged with allegedly fabricating a hate crime. Meanwhile, liberal media folks like CNN’s Don Lemon were trying to distance themselves from their past support, while also pretending Trump supporters were not harmed by the claims. But Fox News host Tucker Carlson wasn’t going to let him get away with it; tearing into Lemon later that night for acting like a “holy victim.”

The bizarre tale of Empire star Jussie Smollett took another interesting turn on Thursday morning, when black commentators appeared on CNN with At This Hour host Kate Bolduan to discuss the charges of disorderly conduct filed by the Chicago police against Smollett.Keith Boykin -- who said he has known Smollett for eight years -- said he was “devastated” by the accusations of staging a fake homophobic and racist attack and sending a threatening letter containing white powder to himself. In addition, political commentator and weekend CNN anchor Van Jones described the situation as the “fall of an icon.”

It’s no surprise that a young Sheldon would go through great lengths to prove he was right, or that an adult Sheldon would think fondly of the memory. However, the February 21 episode of Young Sheldon, “A Loaf of Bread and a Grand Old Flag," took it to the next level with Sheldon supporting communism.

Just like his boss and hero James Comey, McCabe has written a Trump-trashing book, and like Comey, he’s getting hours and hours of air time to sell laughable notions, like the idea that the FBI has been utterly nonpartisan. This man will say anything. Truth means nothing. He’s worse than Comey. It barely matters to his interviewers that McCabe was fired from the top of the FBI for…lying his face off to the FBI.

With Empire actor and apparent hoaxer Jussie Smollett now formally charged with allegedly fabricating a hate crime, many are calling out the liberal media for falling for the accusations because they fit their anti-Trump narrative. During a Thursday appearance on Fox News Channel’s Special Report, Washington Free Beacon editor in chief Matthew Continetti called out the media for often holding water for liberals and against Republicans.

On Tuesday, the website The Blast reported that Jussie Smollett specifically requested that Robin Roberts handle the interview because the two knew each other from when she appeared on an episode of Empire that aired last year. So let's take a look. On the April 11, 2018 episode, Roberts was much tougher on fictional Jamal Lyon (played by Smollett) than she was on Smollett in real life!

As NewsBusters has previously reported, the national media, including CNN itself, have gone into an uproar over CNN’s decision to hire former Justice Department Spokeswoman Sarah Isgur Flores as Deputy Political Editor. The topic came up on Wednesday’s edition of Tucker Carlson Tonight, where the eponymous host discussed the Isgur Flores hysteria with media reporter for The Hill Joe Concha. Concha ended up highlighting a blaring double standard when it comes to CNN’s hiring of political operatives with “no journalism experience.”

This past weekend, conservative author Rod Dreher and Daily Caller reporter Jen Kerns’ articles were both censored on the site. "You are not allowed to say on Facebook that Jussie Smollett carried out a hate hoax,” Dreher tweeted on Sunday. He posted a screenshot of Facebook saying the article “goes against our Community Standards.” Facebook later lifted the ban, but free speech advocates are debating why it happened in the first place.

After news broke that Special Counsel Robert Mueller would be delivering his final Russia investigation report to Attorney General William Barr in the coming days, on Thursday, NBC’s Today show and CBS This Morning promised viewers that the investigation would continue regardless of Mueller’s findings.

Even if the crumbling and increasingly dubious Jusse Smollett hate crime story is false, it still indicates the level of racial “menace” and “fear” in the United States. That was the claim of the Washington Post’s Jonathan Capehart on Thursday, doubling down on comments from last week. He even cited a survey as the far-left Southern Poverty Law Center as proof.

She’s only 26, so I suspect it will be years before “The Wit and Wisdom of Miley Cyrus” is compiled and published. You, dear reader, shouldn’t have to wait that long to learn the young sage’s thoughts on marriage. Specifically, her own marriage, and Hillary Clinton’s, er, place in it.

Thursday afternoon, a CNN panel rehashed the media’s already tired complaint that female candidates face a sexist standard that their male opponents, do not: Their “likability” with the media. Inside Politics host John King and his guests praised a Marie Claire interview where several of these Democrat women running in 2020 complained about the sexist questions they get asked, as they touted Hillary Clinton for paving the way for these women.

Facebook is willing to take down pages funded by Russia. Now it’s facing the question about what to do about other state-funded media outlets like Al Jazeera, BBC and even NPR? Facebook suspended three pages on February 15 , including the popular video site Ruptly. All three allegedly failed to disclose that they were backed by RT, which is funded by the Russian government.

On Thursday, Media Research Center President Brent Bozell and other conservative leaders released the following joint letter to Attorney General William Barr, detailing the growing threat of online censorship from social media outlets such as Facebook, Twitter, Google and YouTube.

If there were an award given to the most hyperbolic analysis of President Trump, MSNBC Morning Joe co-host Joe Scarborough would be the winner. In hour one of the Thursday show, Scarborough said that he "knows" that Trump "is not disturbed" by reports that a Coast Guard lieutenant was arrested for planning attacks on journalists and Democratic politicians. In hour two, Scarborough doubled down.
