The liberal media is not known for its deep and abiding respect for the US military. Yet in the opening segment alone of today's Morning Joe, there were no fewer than nine instances of members of the panel referring to Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman as a "hero" or Purple Heart recipient. For good measure, Mike Barnicle melodramatically described him as "wearing the cloth of our country." What accounts for such a sudden onset of hero worship? The answer's obvious: since the Democrats and MSM see Vindman as a key impeachment witness against President Trump, it suits their political purposes to celebrate his status, lending credence to his testimony.
Before Ambassador to the European Union Gordon Sondland gave testimony before the House Intel Committee 's Wednesday impeachment hearing, those occupying the desk on MSNBC's pre-game show could hardly contain their excitement. They eagerly awaited the downfall of the Trump Administration and the schadenfreude that would inevitably come with seeing "Trumpists" react to Sondland's testimony.
They're two of a kind! Tuesday’s proved to be more reminiscent of an Al Gore fundraising event than an entertaining television program as the two men yukked it up over climate change and President Trump.
One of the world’s most famous and reliable institutions of good will is feeling left out in the cold in the days since Chick-fil-A decided to terminate its donations to the Christian charity service, the Salvation Army, in order to find recipients less “anti-LGBTQ.” The organization spoke for all of us Christian conservatives when they claimed to be “saddened” by the move, which was surprising after years of Chick-fil-A standing by its proud Christian allies.
Facebook has taken heat for supporting free speech and for including Breitbart in its “News” tab, and now its VP of global marketing solutions is making a stand. Yesterday, Gizmodo wrote its not-so-objective commentary that “Facebook recently announced that white supremacist propaganda site Breitbart would be considered a ‘high quality’ news source on its platform, leading to complaints that Facebook was legitimizing hate.”
The TV ratings took another dive on Tuesday morning for Day 3 of the Democrats’ impeachment hearings, with only 11.4 million tuning in to ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, MSNBC and the Fox News Channel for the testimony of Lt. Col. Alex Vindman. But according to Nielsen, the combined audience for those networks grew to 13 million for the afternoon/early evening session featuring the first two witnesses sought by the Republican minority, former U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker and ex-NSC aide Tim Morrison.
This would be funny, if it wasn’t just so sad. Several media outlets had their credibility put to the test this week (and shocker, failed miserably) after a report from the United Nations out Monday left out a pretty significant detail. The report appeared to condemn President Trump over the border policy, calling the U.S. out for holding “100,000”, or “⅓ of the children globally held in migrant- detention centers.” The media rushed to share the report as more bad news for Trump. However they were singing a different tune when the UN report’s author clarified his data was from 2015, when President Obama was in office.
During an 11:00 a.m. ET hour break in Wednesday’s impeachment hearing, all three broadcast networks eagerly proclaimed the U.S. Ambassador to the European Union, Gordon Sondland, was “directly implicating” President Trump in a “quid pro quo” with Ukraine. However, just minutes later, those same networks admitted that Sondland never heard any such thing directly from the President.
In what could be perceived as a subtle barb at Facebook, and perhaps even Twitter too, Snapchat declared its commitment to battling “misinformation” with the upcoming election in mind. “We subject all advertising to review, including political advertising,” the Snap CEO Evan Spiegel said on Monday, according to CNBC. He continued, adding, “I think what we try to do is create a place for political ads on our platform, especially because we reach so many young people and first-time voters we want them to be able to engage with the political conversation, but we don’t allow things like misinformation to appear in that advertising.”
Hosts on CNN and MSNBC sneered at a letter Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) sent to the House Intelligence Committee on Monday, in which Johnson spelled out a timeline of his efforts to convince President Trump to restore aid to Ukraine. The letter included revelations such as how, on August 31, President Trump responded to Johnson's prodding, “by saying something like, ‘Ron, I understand your position. We’re reviewing it now, and you’ll probably like my final decision.’”
MSNBC hosts Brian Williams and Nicolle Wallace, on Wednesday, proclaimed Ambassador Gordon Sondland’s testimony was a “blow torch” to Donald Trump’s defense. After the first part of the hearing was over, Williams came on the air to call it a “blow torch” and “stunning testimony.” His co-host Wallace added that Sondland was “taking a blow torch to every defense Donald Trump has offered....today changed everything.”
When the liberal media starts relating their bellyaching over their man-made climate change narrative to an impending “collapse of the information ecosystem,” their propagandizing may have just made the latter a self-fulfilling prophecy. HuffPost Editor in Chief Lydia Polgreen wrote an opinion piece Nov. 19 for liberal outlet The Guardian, where she suggested that “[w]e are currently facing a new systemic collapse, one that has built far more swiftly but poses potent risks for all of humanity: the collapse of the information ecosystem.”
On Wednesday’s CBS This Morning, while recounting Tuesday’s impeachment hearings, correspondent Major Garrett hammered House Republicans for daring to criticize or raise credibility issues about some of the witnesses. The reporter claimed the GOP members were demanding a “loyalty test” from those government officials in support of President Trump.
As yesterday’s impeachment hearings concluded late Tuesday, MSNBC host Chris Hayes was ready to fret over the state of democracy, with his left-wing guests, New York Times’ frenzied opinion columnist Michelle Goldberg and two Democratic operatives who worked for the Clinton and Obama administrations.
ABC chief legal affairs anchor Dan Abrams also runs a website called Mediaite.com, which somehow claims it’s a trusted source “across the political spectrum,” believe it or not: “From TV green rooms to the corridors of the senate to the latest White House press briefing, Mediaite is a trusted source on the intersection of politics and media across the political spectrum.” But anyone looking at it on Wednesday morning at 8 AM Eastern time would see a dramatically liberal billboard, touting the latest hot liberal takes, including Jimmy Kimmel ripping Donald Trump Jr. as a "sperm sample."
