David Corn: Hillary Camp Telling Press Things on Email That 'Are Not True'

March 7th, 2015 11:23 AM

David Corn of mucho-left Mother Jones was the object of considerable ire for going after Bill O'Reilly in what Rush and others saw as attempted tit-for-tat over Brian Williams' inventions.  But credit Corn where it's due: he is now speaking out about how Hillary's camp is in a "defensive crouch" over her email,  in which Hillary's people have told him and other members of the press things that "are not true."

Corn, who has also written on the matter, made his allegations on Steve Kornacki's MSNBC show today. Corn claimed "I was told by a Clinton advocate, speaking for her, that everything was preserved by the State Department. It turns out it wasn't."  He added that by telling the press things that "aren't true," the Clinton camp turns a "level 4 fire" into a 13.

So kudos to Corn, but one quibble: how does he know that the fire is really only a "4?" For all we know, if Hillary released everything, the truth thus revealed could start an off-the-charts conflagration that would consume her presidential ambitions.

DAVID CORN: In this instance, the Clinton campaign, such as it is, Clintonland, they get into this defensive crouch and they start talking to reporters like me who are looking on the story and telling us things that are not true.

I was told by a Clinton advocate, speaking for her, that everything was preserved by the State Department. It turns out it wasn't. A lot of stuff that didn't go to State Department recipients, maybe outside people, were not preserved. So here they are, it's not just that the press is beating up on her. There's this awful dysfunction with the Clinton people and the press. As soon as the Clintons do something wrong, people will overreact, they get in a defensive crouch, and they start saying things that aren't true. And instead of a level four fire, becomes 13.
