WATCH: Media Ask Planned Parenthood Prez If She'll ‘Run for Office?’

If the former president of Planned Parenthood wasn’t thinking of running for office, she is now – thanks to the media.

April 30 marked the last day Cecile Richards served as president of America’s largest abortion provider, Planned Parenthood. Richards stepped down after 12 years – shortly after publishing her new memoir, Make Trouble. Both during and after her time at Planned Parenthood, six anchors and hosts have taken the opportunity on air to ask Richards if she’ll run for office.

On April 2, the day before Richards’ book was released, CBS This Morning co-anchor Gayle King hinted at Richards during Today. “Women running for office, does that mean Cecile Richards running for office?” she asked.

The very next day, April 3, MSNBC host Rachel Maddow chimed in. Pointing to Richards’ memoir, Maddow asked, “this makes me think you’re going to run for office. Are you going to run for office?”

Likewise on MSNBC, during Andrea Mitchell Reports April 5, host Andrea Mitchell wanted to know, “Is there elective politics in your future?”

A few days later, on Morning Joe April 17, MSNBC co-host Willie Geist suggested the idea to Richards. “A lot of people are wondering if you’re stepping away from Planned Parenthood to get into elective politics yourself,” he began. “Is that’s something that’s on your mind, not this fall, perhaps, but down the road?”

When Richards stepped down, TV hosts renewed the question. On May 1, MSNBC Live host Stephanie Ruhle asked about the “record number of women run[ning] for election.” She added to Richards, “Are you going to be one of those women next?”

That same day, CNN host Alisyn Camerota also asked Richards during New Day, “Is there politics in your future?” and “Do you have an interest in running for office at some point?”

Too bad they didn’t take the time to ask her the tough questions like, “When does a human life begin?”

Under Richard’s leadership, the Susan B. Anthony List reports that, there have been “3.8 MILLION lives lost to abortion.” The abortion giant has committed roughly 7.6 million abortions since Roe v. Wade, the 1973 Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion in the U.S.

According to Planned Parenthood’s most recently published annual report, the organization performed 321,384 abortions and received $543.7 million in “government health services, reimbursements & grants” for the year 2016-2017.
