Monday’s Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon could have easily been mistaken for a Kamala Harris campaign rally. Being granted a generous portion of the show, Senator Harris pleaded the case for her presidential aspirations to viewers at home and the in-studio audience filled exclusively with college students.
Univision’s TV news division gives us a mixed bag with its coverage of the arrest of Democratic donor Ed Buck on charges. One the one hand, there was a full disclosure that you don’t often see in media, but on the other hand, there was some pretty creative tiptoeing around critical elements of the story.
On MSNBC’s Morning Joe on Friday, left-wing regular Donny Deutsch was convinced that vague allegations of someone overhearing President Trump making controversial comments to another world leader during a private phone call would be the commander in chief’s downfall. Deutsch promised his fellow liberals that “this is the big one” and pleaded for Democrats to “storm the gate” with investigations.
Although children may be the face of the global climate strike that have spawned a media frenzy, several left-wing billionaires have also helped promote the cause. The ongoing, youth-led global climate strikes which took place again on Sept. 20, partnered with several organizations connected to liberal billionaires George Soros, 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Tom Steyer, and media mogul and former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
During a monologue on the blackface controversy surrounding Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Fox News host Tucker Carlson pointed out CNN host Don Lemon’s double standards when it comes to accepting apologies. While Lemon seemed unwilling to accept former NBC anchor Megyn Kelly’s apology for merely suggesting that there was nothing wrong with wearing blackface in Halloween costumes, Lemon all too happily accepted Trudeau’s apology for actually wearing blackface.
No climate protest is too extreme for MSNBC. The network has been pushing global warming activism all week and on Friday featured, without any critical commentary, a simulated hanging. The network also touted the climate protests featuring far-left Congresswomen Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, anti-Semite Ilhan Omar, Ayanna Pressley and Senator Bernie Sanders.
Our friend Mark Hemingway at Real Clear Investigations tweeted about a disturbing article at VICE.com half-lionizing Aileen Wuornos, the hooker-turned-serial killer. The title was "How Serial Killer Aileen Wuornos Became a Cult Hero: To her fans, Wuornos's story offers a powerful example of a survivor who defies the respectability politics of victimhood." The article really went off the rails when writer Sofia Barrett-Ibarria suggested Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh should meet a violent end like the prey of Wuornos
Speaking on Thursday’s Hardball to Congressman Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), kooky MSNBC host Chris Matthews quipped without any reservations that President Donald Trump is so scared of gun control that he compared it to Trump being fearful of...losing his virginity?
On Thursday September 19, Live Action founder and president Lila Rose tweeted “BREAKING: In a meeting today with @HawleyMO, Mark Zuckerberg said @facebook was wrong to censor me & @LiveAction, that there was clear bias, and that the 'fact checkers' were activists.” The censoring in question was when Facebook had relied on two abortionists who worked for Planned Parenthood and NARAL to factcheck Live Action, a pro-life organization.
It’s hard to compete with the crazy takes often expressed by hosts of The View, but on Friday, guest Margaret Atwood certainly came close. The author of the dystopian Handmaid’s Tale came to the show to talk about the Hulu adaptation of her book and her new sequel to the thirty-year-old aforementioned novel. While there, the Canadian author slammed the United States' abortion laws, even arguing that the government should pay for every woman’s house, food, clothing and medical bills, if they are “forced to give birth,” or more bluntly, forced to not kill their children.
Schoolkids around the world are cutting class Friday for the “climate,” and the New York Times is very excited (so much for the value of education). The editorial page was especially hyped up, issuing a call online for protest sign pictures: “Are You Going to the Climate Protest? We Want to See Your Sign! -- We want to share young people’s illustrations and videos with the world.” Thursday’s lead National story featured the 16-year-old Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg, accompanied by a huge promotional photo of Thunberg's testimony to Congress. “She Didn’t Mince Words: ‘Listen to the Scientists.’”
The media is hyping the Global Climate Strike, especially in the United States, where 800 marches were planned. Tech companies like Amazon, Microsoft, Google, and Wikipedia have large bodies of employees who are going on strike. But are these people in touch with what Americans care about? Google Trends tweeted “In the last few weeks, we’ve been exploring how people search for the environment.
How many people have to join before something becomes a “movement?” If the cause is climate change, the answer is fewer people than there are in Homer, Alaska: population 5,697. Even though there were only a little over a thousand signatories that day, USA Today hyped a new “climate change movement,” called “No Future, No Children” Sept. 19. Eighteen-year old Canadian Emma Lim has pledged not to have children until her government “takes serious action” on climate.
As The New York Times goes into damage control mode following their erroneous Justice Kavanagh hit piece, former Times executive editor Jill Abramson appeared on Fox’s Outnumbered Overtime on Wednesday in an attempt to excuse the paper for leaving key exculpatory evidence out of the initial article. Abramson tried to claim "no one has challenged the basic accuracy of the story that they published." Yes, they have!
It’s no surprise that people in the “mainstream media” in news and entertainment are tilted so far to the left that they very likely could not be much more liberal. Nevertheless, in a ridiculous effort to bring more conservative viewers to NBC’s Saturday Night Live program, producer Lorne Michaels saw his clumsy strategy blow up in his face after it was discovered newly hired “conservative” comic Shane Gillis had used his podcast to openly attack homosexuals, Asians and other minority groups.
