Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey is facing backlash on his site after he tweeted about eating Chick-fil-A during gay Pride Month.

In a tweet on Saturday, Dorsey indicated he had spent $31.58 at Chick-fil-A and received a discount:

The next day, Matter of Fact with Soledad O’Brien host Soledad O’Brien pointed out Dorsey’s post about Chick-fil-A constituted an “interesting company to boost during Pride Month”:

While he did not delete the tweet, Dorsey agreed with O’Brien’s assessment, claiming he had [c]ompletely forgot about their background”:

Despite her disavowal of Chick-fil-A during Pride Month, O’Brien was apparently a speaker at the Chick-fil-A Leadercast event on May 4, 2012, while she was at CNN.

O’Brien was not the only one who showed disdain towards Dorsey for eating at Chick-fil-A. Patreon engineer Erica Joy demanded to know how Dorsey was going to provide GLAAD with “free advertising” to make up for the Chick-fil-A tweet:

Writer and director Adam Goldman told Dorsey to “boost your head out of your ass” on behalf of the gay community:

In 2012, Chick-fil-A became embroiled in controversy when CEO Dan Cathy indicated he supported the biblical definition of marriage. Following protests, Daily Beast reported the chicken chain “ended nearly all of its donations to anti-LGBT organizations in 2012, with $25,390 to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes as the only potential sore point.” Despite continuing to be lambasted as a “homophobic” chick chain ever since, Chick-fil-A employees in Orlando provided food for the first responders and those donating blood to the victims of the Pulse shooting.
