"Everywhere I go I'm asked if I think the university stifles writers," Flannery O'Connor once said. "My opinion is that they don't stifle enough of them. There's many a best seller that could have been prevented by a good teacher."

Put another way, there's a novel in everyone and most of them should stay there. Much the same can be said for the fantasies of left-wing radio host Mike Malloy, situated as he is on the deranged by choice end of the dial. Malloy, who proved a bit much even for Air America, can't abide what he perceives as hatred from conservatives. His way of fighting back is through hateful speech. Yes, the irony is lost on him. Is the White House Correspondents' Dinner the proper venue to make gay jokes about the husband of a current female member of Congress?

NBC's Jimmy Kimmel certainly thought so as he took a page out of vulgar comedian Bill Maher's playbook claiming Keith Olbermann "has more pink slips than Marcus Bachmann" (video follows with transcribed highlights and commentary):

It's been months since Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) dropped out of the presidential race, but Bill Maher just can't stop making gay jokes about her husband.

On HBO's Real Time Friday, the host once again made a wisecrack abot Marcus involving sodomy (video follows with transcript and commentary):

It’s hard to keep up with what the media and the left deem acceptable. Seems like just last year Anderson Cooper publicly took offense at a line from a movie. Come to think of it, it was just last year that the CNN anchor found “That’s so gay,” upsetting to his perfectly honed PC sensibilities.

Fast forward a year. Many people are accusing two currently prominent figures of being gay. But don’t hold your breath waiting for indignant coverage from Cooper and the rest of the media, because it’s liberals leveling the charge against conservatives.   

Take, for example, Marcus Bachmann, husband of GOP presidential candidate Rep. Michele Bachmann (Minn.). The Bachmanns have been married more than 30 years, and have five children. Mr. Bachmann runs a clinic that offers Christian counseling to people struggling with “unwanted” homosexual feelings – derisively termed “praying away the gay” by liberals.

As Michele Bachmann climbs in the polls, Obama-loving media members are working overtime to dig up and/or manufacture dirt on the conservative Congresswoman from Minnesota.
