Comedy Central hosted another one of its vicious and disgusting celebrity “roasts” with Justin Bieber as the target. On the “pre-show” before the roast, unfunny comedian Jeffrey Ross arrived in a pope costume, accompanied by sexy “nuns” in black habits and fishnet stockings.
Red-carpet host Sarah Tiana introduced him as the “popemaster general” and gushed “you look amazing, you're going to be hilarious." To which Ross replied, "Bless you, Sarah, congratulations on all of your abortions."
One (among many) of the more stunning elements of Obamacare's six-month run thus far has been the administration's increasingly desperate ploys to get "millennials" to sign up as the sort-of enrollment deadline looms. One of the more appalling of those involved President Obama himself appearing on comedian Zach Galifianakis’ “Between Two Ferns” show and directing scripted insults at the host. Almost no one in the establishment press has commented on how stunts such as these diminish the dignity which used to be associated with the highest office in the land.
Building on that personal involvement, Saturday Night Live's opening skit last night showed several other made-up (I hope) attempts to make "Get Covered" go viral, including presidential photo and video ops with Kim Kardashian and the Pope, respectively. The final effort possibly included spreading viruses, as it required Obama to kiss Justin Bieber ... on the lips. One of the big steps in winning a social or political battle these days is defining the terms to be used in the debate. Remember how an “unborn child” became an antiseptic “fetus” during the start of the abortion debate? And how left-wingers now call themselves “progressives” since George H. W. Bush turned “liberal” into a slur during his 1988 presidential campaign?
According to a Thursday post by Daily Beast Washington reporter Michelle Cottle, the latest example of this principle is the Family Research Council's use of the phrase “natural marriage” instead of “traditional marriage,” a move to change the terms of the debate because the conservative organization had been “getting its butt kicked.”
Cable News Network president Jeff Zucker used his keynote address at the RealScreen Summit in Washington, D.C., on Monday to promote his “new vision” for CNN that he said has expanded beyond reporting breaking news while including documentaries and films in its programming, which he described as “more shows, less newscasts.”
“We’re never going to stray from breaking news,” Zucker stated before noting that CNN “provides more news coverage on a daily basis than any other TV network in America” while broadening out “our offerings to the public, and we have moved into the nonfiction world with some success thus far.”
In a Thursday front page New York Times story it was reported that Friends of Abe, a group made up of Hollywood conservatives like actors Gary Sinise and Kelsey Grammer, became the latest right-leaning group to be targeted by the IRS. Total Big Three (ABC, CBS, NBC) network time spent on this story: zero seconds.
However there was a celebrity news story the Big Three news networks did jump all over -- Justin Bieber getting arrested for drunk driving. From Thursday morning through Friday morning the Big Three networks, on their evening and morning shows, devoted a total of 36 minutes and 10 seconds to the troubled pop star.
Lindsay Lohan’s out of rehab, and she welcomed herself back to America by substitute-hosting E! network’s Chelsea Lately Monday.
During her opening monologue, Lohan thanked Justin Bieber, Kanye West, Anthony Weiner, and the Royal Baby for keeping the tabloids busy in her absence.
TV Guide posted an article headlined “Justin Bieber's Downward Spiral: A Timeline of Bad Behavior.” Sadie Gennis began: “Bieber has become the poster child for paparazzi attacks, partying and reckless driving — a far cry from the innocent, devoutly Christian singer he was six years ago. So what happened?”
She added, “Check out our timeline of The Biebs' downward spiral and figure out what went wrong.” Bizarrely, TV Guide listed Bieber’s pro-life remarks to Rolling Stone magazine on its “timeline of bad behavior”:
