On Tuesday, NBC left it to CBS to report its own poll showing a significant drop in President Obama’s overall approval rating and specifically regarding his handling of terrorism. CBS This Morning co-host Gayle King covered the numbers from the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll: “43% approve of Americans approve of the job that he's doing, and that’s the lowest number in more than a year. But 60% disapprove of the way that he’s handling the current situation with ISIS.”

The liberal, pro-gun control governor of Connecticut came under very little scrutiny, Friday, in an interview for CBS This Morning. Daniel Malloy has signed an executive order that would ban anyone on the federal no-fly watch list from purchasing a gun in his state. Instead of offering constitutional or due process questions, co-host Charlie Rose touted, “Connecticut's governor vows this morning to do what the U.S. Senate would not when it comes to gun control.”

On Friday, the CBS This Morning anchors badgered Marco Rubio on his opposition to gun control. Gayle King touted Obama's words on the issue: "The President said...that it's far too easy for people to get weapons, and that we need to figure out a way to make it harder for them. In this particular case...it wouldn't have made a difference. But there are so many other cases it seems...that it would have made a difference." King later wondered, "What about the freedom of Americans to go to the mall; to go to church; to go to school?"

In a contentious exchange with House Speaker Paul Ryan on Thursday’s CBS This Morning, co-hosts Charlie Rose and Gayle King repeatedly pressed the Republican leader to take up gun control legislation in the wake of the San Bernardino shooting. Wednesday's CBS This Morning raved over the new movie Spotlight, which touts the work of the investigative reporters at the liberal Boston Globe who chronicled the Catholic priest sex abuse scandal in the Archdiocese of Boston. Gayle King gushed, "Gosh, that movie was so good." She later labeled the movie "very powerful." Fill-in anchor Kristen Johnson asserted that the new release was "such a fantastic movie."

The three networks on Thursday hyped the “scathing” “political bombshell” of George H.W. Bush criticizing Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld. In contrast, when Barack Obama’s former Secretary of State went on the record with harsh criticism of his former boss, ABC and NBC avoided it. Speaking of the Bush family, Good Morning America’s Amy Robach trumpeted, “This is being called a political bombshell."

On Wednesday, while discussing Forbes magazine releasing its 2015 Most Powerful list, the hosts of CBS This Morning were perplexed by Russian president Vladimir Putin beating out President Obama for the top spot, with Obama only being number three on the list. Charlie Rose pressed Forbes assistant managing editor Luisa Kroll: “Make the case as to why Vladimir Putin is more powerful than President Obama.”
