GOP presidential candidate and U.S. senator Ted Cruz took part in a town hall meeting sponsored by talk radio station WRKO in Boston and didn't hold anything back when responding to questions from host Jeff Kuhner.
The Texas Republican joked that if he wins the White House, “the first thing I should do is send flowers and a note of condolences to all of the reporters and editors who have checked themselves into therapy.”
Sunday night's airing of Killing Jesus -- the three-hour event based on the book of the same name by Fox News Channel anchor Bill O'Reilly and co-writer Martin Dugard -- was watched by more than 3.7 million people, a new record for the National Geographic Channel.
Of course, this isn't the first cable television adaptation of one of O'Reilly's books. Two others -- Killing Kennedy and Killing Lincoln – were also produced for the cable channel and drew high ratings as well.
After a week of vacation from serving as host of Comedy Central's Daily Show, Jon Stewart leaped into the fray on Tuesday about whether Fox News Channel's Bill O'Reilly was accurate about what happened while he was covering conflicts in a number of foreign nations.
“First,” the comedian began, “let's be frank about television journalists' self-aggrandizement. … It's nothing new. The most recent allegations -- well, they hurt me, they disappointed me because they concern someone” he considers a friend.
During a segment on Tuesday evening's edition of The O'Reilly Factor, the Fox News Channel host stated he “does not, does not believe in white privilege. However, there is no question that African-Americans have a much harder time succeeding in our society than whites do.” [video below the jump]
Those assertions led Charles Blow, a columnist for the New York Times, to ask in his Thursday column “Is white privilege real? Not according to Fox News’s Bill O’Reilly.” The black writer also criticized the cable news host by declaring: “It is statements like this ... that make you the race hustler.”
MSNBC’s newest primetime host Chris Hayes openly admits to being a liberal activist, proclaiming in ads for his “All In” program that “I’m not just a passive witness. I am not there to just tell you a story.. I’, there to act out: to do it in real time—to do politics, not talk about it.”
Given Hayes’ long history of promoting the liberal MSNBC agenda, it should come as no surprise that he used his Wednesday March 26 program to attack Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly over comments he made to Congressman Paul Ryan (R-WI). On his program, Hayes ridiculously claimed that “I would submit that by his very own definition, Bill O'Reilly is a pretty accomplished race baiter himself.” [See video below.]
Fox News host Bill O’Reilly had some tough words for “Huffington Post” Editor and Chief Arianna Huffington on “The O’Reilly Factor” on March 25.
Huffington appeared on Fox News to promote her new book and was met with some harsh words from O’Reilly who criticized her website arguing that it needed “to be a little more fair” and that liberals should stop reflexively defending President Obama. [See video below.]
Following President Obama’s appearance on the satirical interview show “Between Two Ferns” with comedian Zach Galifianakis, MSNBC’s Chris Matthews chose to take an unnecessary swipe at Fox News.
Appearing as a guest on MSNBC’s Morning Joe on March 13, the “Hardball” host reacted to Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly saying that Abraham Lincoln would not have gone on “Between Two Ferns” by claiming that” My View is that Abraham Lincoln would not have worked for Fox.” [See video below.]
Thursday night, both Bill O’Reilly and Sean Hannity showed and commented on a new video done by the Media Research Center that showed a disturbing trend among some college students at George Mason University. In the video, MRCTV reporter Dan Joseph posed as a liberal hater of Fox News to try to get students to sign a petition urging the Obama administration to spy on Fox News employees and their families’ phone and email records. This, of course, was done in the wake of the revelation that the Justice Department seized the phone and email records of Fox News correspondent James Rosen, and the phone records of the Associated Press.
What's the difference between someone with a “far-left” philosophy and a person who's a “liberal?” Bill O'Reilly received an interesting answer to that question while interviewing Democratic strategist James Carville during Thursday night's edition of “The O'Reilly Factor.”
Carville said that far-left people, including the protesters who clashed with police in Seattle on May 1, are criminals who are “breaking the law,” a standard he used when rejecting the conservative host's assertion that “the MSNBC people” are “starting to dominate the political conversation.”
