If you watched Thursday night’s Republican debate and wished that a onetime Green Party presidential nominee had been asking the questions, then you agree with Washington correspondent John Nichols, who thinks Ralph Nader would be the “ideal prospect” to moderate presidential debates for both major parties.

Spoilsports might argue that Nader’s fifty-year record of lefty activism would make him a problematic choice to host a GOP debate. Nichols sidesteps that issue by pointing out that Nader is “neither a Republican nor a Democrat” and, besides, “he knows every issue, and he is on to every dodge that every contender might attempt when it comes to addressing the issues.”

Liberal journalists from CBS’s Norah O’Donnell to the Washington Post’s Dana Milbank have questioned Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker for not rejecting Rudy Giuliani’s comments about Barack Obama’s patriotism and for his response to a “gotcha” question about the President’s faith. But where were they when Walker himself was being called an un-American, tyrannical, racist woman-beater?         

The New York Post reports that just like that, Rosie O’Donnell has jumped ship at “The View” again, after less than half a year. O’Donnell is splitting with second “wife” Michelle Rounds and wants to focus on her children.

Rosie’s representative Cindi Berger confirmed the breakup, as well O’Donnell’s departure from “The View,” in a statement Friday night: “I can confirm that Rosie and her wife Michelle split in November. Rosie has teens and an infant at home that need her attention.

A day after Rosie O’Donnell proclaimed that the CIA engaged in “horrific” and “illegal” “torture,” on Thursday morning the cast of ABC’s The View decided to revisit the controversial Democratic Senate report on the CIA’s use of enhanced interrogation techniques on suspected terrorists.  Predictably, Rosie doubled-down on her claim that America “tortured” people but conservative co-host Nicolle Wallace eagerly slapped her down. The ABC host insisted that she has “never been more proud to defend the people who walk the line for this country and this city and the city in which I worked, the city where my mom and dad lived.”
