Since Monday, NewsBusters has been presenting each category from the Media Research Center’s “Best Notable Quotables of 2015,” our annual awards for the year’s worst journalism. Today, the “Ruining the Revolution Award,” for journalists wailing about how awful it will be for communist Cuba to become more like the capitalist U.S. Winning this award, Fox News Channel anchor Shepard Smith who fretted that if American businesses such as Taco Bell or Lowe’s moved to Cuba, it could “ruin the place.”

Acting as though the latest news the war against ISIS, new developments in the Hillary Clinton scandal or any other story barely existed, the “big three” networks of ABC, CBS, and NBC devoted a whopping 24 minutes and three seconds of their Tuesday evening newscasts to obsessing over Donald Trump’s proposed ban on Muslims entering the United States. Not surprisingly, NBC Nightly News led the way by spending nearly half its newscast on Trump with five segments adding up to 12 minutes and 34 seconds.

A lengthy expose in the new Vanity Fair claims veteran journalist Barbara Walters wasn't thrilled that Rosie O'Donnell would return to The View. Writer Suzanna Andrews asked the show creator and long-time star if bringing back the liberal comedienne was a good idea. Walters paused and then responded, "Rosie and Whoopi together was not peaches and cream... I don’t think we needed the two of them together."

Retired host Barbara Walters on Friday returned to The View to celebrate the show's 4000th episode. The self-congratulatory edition featured Walters bragging, "We had some very serious political discussions. We had very serious guests. We had the president." The co-host enthused, "When Obama came on the show that was a very big deal, a sitting president on the daytime show."

All three networks on Friday morning promoted Barack Obama's "interesting," "unconventional" interviews with YouTube personalities, including one who is famous for taking a bath in milk and Fruit Loops. One question was very similar a query from ABC journalist Barbara Walters in 2011.

Now online: the January 12 edition of Notable Quotables, MRC’s bi-weekly compilation of the latest outrageous quotes in the liberal media. This week, ABC's Barbara Walters pushes conservative philanthropist David Koch to stay out of politics: “Do you think it’s fair that just because you have billions of dollars, you can influence elections?”
At the same time, NBC congressional reporter Luke Russert mocks conservatives on Twitter: “The Kamikaze Caucus is alive & barking,” while The Daily Beast's Eleanor Clift says in 2015 she'll treat the GOP candidates with respect, “even though I think most of them probably belong in the clown car.”

Historians will record that 2014 was a terrible year for liberal Democrats, not just at the polls but also in the news. The networks spent most of the fall campaign pretending there wasn’t a fall campaign, and for good reason. Obama’s Hope and Change aura had completely sunk into the muck as Obama’s honesty and competence both took a hit in the hard news of ISIS and Ebola.
But if Team Obama was going down, the journalistic elite were going down with him. They are cemented with their so-called savior, as can be seen in the Media Research Center’s “Worst of the Worst 2014,” marking the worst quotes gathered from media coverage this year.

On Sunday night, ABC’s Barbara Walters hosted her annual 10 Most Fascinating People program which featured billionaire businessman and conservative donor David Koch as one of the “most fascinating people of 2014.” A preview of the interview aired during Sunday morning’s This Week with George Stephanopoulos portraying Koch as “one of the biggest Republican donors, a reclusive billionaire, David Koch. Democrats love to hate him.” During the full interview, Walters expanded on the liberal attacks against Koch but also detailed the hundreds of millions of dollars he has donated to philanthropic causes over the last several decades.

Fill-in host Martha Raddatz introduced the clip of the interview by hyping “one of the more controversial parts of that legislation, provisions dramatically easing restrictions on the amount of cash individuals can donate to campaigns.
