MSNBC's Matthews Slams 'Stupid' Iowa Republican Voters Who Might Back Perry

"Well, then they're stupid out there if they fall for this!"

That's how an angry Chris Matthews erupted at Dallas Morning News columnist Wayne Slater as he suggested that Texas Gov. Rick Perry's sending 1,000 National Guardsmen to the  border with Mexico would "play" well with Republican voters -- and potential 2016 caucus goers -- in western Iowa. "They're stupid, why would anybody fall for this claptrap?" Matthews blustered, adding, "what is the purpose of [an illegal immigrant child] seeing a guy with a rifle wearing fatigues?" 

Politico's Simon: Perry Sending National Guard ‘to Shoot Small Children’ at Border

Roger Simon "joined Politico as its first chief political columnist" in 2006. A couple of items on his resume include being "the only person to win twice the American Society of Newspaper Editors Distinguished Writing Award for commentary," and a 2013 National Press Club humor-related award. Judges for that award said that "Simon's writing is witty, specific and based on sharp observations of politics and the media."

Perhaps, but at least one of his recent tweets is bitter, loony-tunes leftist rubbish. Proving once again that it only takes a slight scratch beneath the surface of a supposedly mainstream liberal journalist to find a hardened, vitriolic radical who hates (yes, that's the correct word) those who dare to disagree with him or her just screaming to come out, Simon tweeted the following in response to news that Texas Governor Rick Perry is calling up 1,000 National Guardsman to serve at his state's border with Mexico (HT RedState):

ABC Derides Perry's Border Move: 'Not Needed' and Comes With a 'Hefty Price Tag'

All three morning shows on Tuesday worried about Governor Rick Perry's "controversial," expensive move to send the National Guard to the Texas border. But it was ABC's Good Morning America on Tuesday that offered the most annoyed commentary. GMA correspondent Jim Avila began his report by lecturing, "But the border patrol says [National Guard troops are] not needed because federal law prohibits the military from enforcing civilian laws." 

Avila also highlighted that Operation Strong Safety comes "with a hefty price tag of $12 million per month." The journalist continued his critique, deriding, "The head of the border patrol telling ABC News he has other needs. It's not about detaining the child immigrants. They're giving themselves up." An irritated Avila added, "It's about where to put them and neither Governor Perry or the Guard has offered any help with that." [See video below. MP3 audio here.]

NBC Ignores Gov. Rick Perry Sending National Guard To Border

On Monday, July 21, Texas Governor Rick Perry announced he was deploying up to 1,000 National Guard troops to the Texas-Mexico border to help deal with the ongoing crisis of thousands of illegal immigrants flooding into the United States from Central America.  

Despite Governor Perry’s decision, on Monday night the NBC Nightly News ignored the story altogether whereas CBS and ABC gave the Perry decision full coverage. [See video below.]

NBC, ABC Yawn as Rick Perry Sends National Guard to the Border

As the border crisis in Texas intensifies, only one network on Monday bothered to cover Governor Rick Perry sending the National Guard to the border. CBS This Morning allowed 20 seconds to the latest development. NBC's Today and ABC's Good Morning America avoided the story. 

This Morning co-host Charlie Rose explained, "The Republican will announce today his plan to mobilize some 1000 members of the Texas National Guard. Their mission is to beef up security." Rose added that the move came "amid the growing problem of immigrant children crossing into the southern states." He added, "Perry told Republicans in Iowa this weekend if the federal government won't secure the border, Texas will." [See video below. MP3 audio here.]

Words Do Matter: CNN’s Bolduan Berates Rick Perry on Immigration With Liberal Talking Points

Thursday’s edition of New Day on CNN included co-host Kate Bolduan continued efforts to loyally follow the Obama administration by lobbying and mocking anyone who dared suggest that they do not support the President or his immigration policy. Today’s guest in the hot seat was Texas Governor Rick Perry. 

From start to finish in the eight minute plus interview, Bolduan attacked Perry on everything from securing the border to solving the issue of the undocumented illegal immigrant children to whether he “could get past the politics” and support President Obama. [MP3 audio here; Video below]

DUers and Kossacks Enjoy Photos of Obama Laughing During Border Crises Meeting

Sheesh! Talk about being blind to really bad optics.

You have to wonder why the Obama administration allowed the release of two Reuters photos of Obama laughing during yesterday's border crises meeting which you can see after the jump. From the reaction of the Democrat Underground and the Daily Kos, it is easy to see why. Because Texas Governor Rick Perry looked unamused as Barack Obama was laughing, they (and probably the adminstration) thought his discomfort was just hilarious while overlooking the fact that Obama was acting as if he didn't take the situation seriously. Although the DUers and Kossacks were generally chuckling over the photos, at least one Kossack was well aware of what the real public reaction would be. First let us watch the DUers mock Rick Perry for not finding laughter amusing during the border crises meeting.

CBS Host: Is Perry Calling Border Crisis Obama's 'Katrina Moment' Just 'A Bunch of Bull'?

Talking to political director John Dickerson on Thursday's CBS This Morning, co-host Norah O'Donnell tried to dismiss Texas Governor Rick Perry calling the current border crisis President Obama's "Katrina moment": "Is there some truth to that or is there, as we say in Texas, is that a bunch of bull?" Dickerson flippantly replied: "Well, you know, the Katrina moment since that disaster has gotten kind of thrown around, it's become something of a political cliche. I think this might be the President's maybe twentieth Katrina moment."

ABC's Jon Karl Wonders: Who's In Charge of Obama's White House?

ABC's Jonathan Karl on Tuesday asked White House press secretary why the letter from the White House to Gov. Rick Perry (R-TX) inviting him to a meeting with President Obama regarding the Texas border crisis was from Valerie Jarrett.  While it's routine for staff to draft such letters for elected officials, matters of such magnitude and to other elected officials of stature are almost always in the name of the principle.  The president's spokesman, when asked why the letter was from Jarrett rather than the President, said  "Valerie spends a lot of time maintaining relationships with governors around the country" on behalf of the President. Michael Eric Dyson On 'The Ed Show': 'Is Compassionate Conservatism Dead?'

Michael Eric Dyson successfully filled in for Ed Schultz on the June 8 edition of The Ed Show by continuing the tradition of blaming America’s problems on Republicans and ranting about their heartlessness. For this show, Dyson chose to focus his opening monologue on blasting “the party that claims to believe in family values and Christian charity” that also calls for Obama to tighten border security and deport illegal immigrants crossing the border.

Dyson stated that “maybe it's time for people of faith to come forward to show conservatives what true compassion means.” He completed his attack on conservative devotion to religion by asking his liberal viewers to text their answer to his poll question “is compassionate conservatism dead?” [See video below. Networks Censor Any Sound Bites of Obama's 'Harshest Critic' Rick Perry

All three network morning shows on Tuesday noted how President Obama agreed to meet with Governor Rick Perry to discuss the illegal immigration crisis, all labeling the Texas Republican to be the "harshest" and "strongest" "big critic" of the commander-in-chief's mishandling of the chaos on the border. The only problem was that none of the broadcasts featured a single second of Perry actually voicing that criticism. [Listen to the audio or watch the video after the jump]

On ABC's Good Morning America, White House correspondent Jon Karl summarized Perry's recent condemnation of Obama's lack of action on the issue: "Perry has been one of the harshest critics here. On This Week he said he doesn't believe the President really cares whether or not the border is secure." Co-host George Stephanopoulos chimed in: "Yeah, he suggested there might even be a conspiracy to have more kids come over."

CNN's Begala Trashes 'Dope' Rick Perry, Picking His Brain Is 'Very Definition of Slim Pickings'

Appearing as a guest on Tuesday's New Day, liberal CNN commentator Paul Begala attacked Rick Perry as a "dope" and a "demagogue" during a discussion of the Texas Republican criticizing President Barack Obama for not visiting the border to see the illegal immigration crisis in person.

Begala went on to insult Perry's intelligence: "I mean, if he's going to pick Rick Perry's brain, that is the very definition of slim pickings."
