HuffPo, AP Report Obama Considering an Expansion of ObamaCare Subsidies, Quiet on the Costs

Sam Stein, who poses as a journalist while toiling at the Huffington Post (he lost any legitimate claim to the title when he wouldn't back away when caught red-handed pretending to know something he couldn't possibly know about John McCain's vetting or lack thereof of Sarah Palin in September 2008), wrote on Thursday (HT Hot Air) that "The Obama administration is considering a fix to the president’s health care law that would expand the universe of individuals who receive tax subsidies to help buy insurance."

Of course, Stein didn't look into how much this "fix," better described as a "huge spending increase," might cost, and "somehow" forgot that any such "fix" substantially increasing tax subsidies would destroy President Obama's unqualified 2009 pledge that "I will not sign a plan that adds one dime to our deficits — either now or in the future. I will not sign it if it adds one dime to the deficit, now or in the future, period." Neither did the Associated Press's Ricardo Alonso-Zaldivar in a Friday evening writeup. Philip Klein at the Washington Examiner did remember Obama's pledge. He also engaged in genuine journalism by looking at what kind of cost might be involved in the "fix" (bolds are mine):

On March 20, the Washington Examiner’s Philip Klein reported that it seems Obamacare’s true costs are starting to sink in with its most ardent supporters: Democrats.  Despite years of the liberal media reporting that this new trillion dollar health care entitlement will save money over the next decade, that outcome is, to be generous, highly dubious, especially with the possibility of eleven million new illegals being able to apply for health care benefits, the cost of health care will have to increase.

Earlier today I wrote about how Democratic National Committee chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz was caught lying about a reporter misquoting her. That reporter, Philip Klein of the Washington Examiner, did, in fact accurately quote her and produced the audio of Wasserman Schultz to prove it.

Fast forward to this evening, as Adam Kredo of the Washington Free Beacon reports that Wasserman Schultz refuses to apologize to Klein, despite having been caught in a falsehood:

While MSNBC is on an all-out effort to tar GOP vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan as a liar for having leveled completely accurate statements in his nomination speech at last week's convention, you can expect the Democrat-friendly network, along with most other media outlets, to overlook Democratic National Committee chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz's history of a tenuous relationship with the truth.

Hot Air's Ed Morrissey has a story today about how the Florida Democrat was accurately quoted by a journalist for a conservative paper only to then slam the reporter for misquoting her, suggesting it was because he's a conservative journalist. Of course, said reporter, Philip Klein of the Washington Examiner, has the damning audiotape of Wasserman Schultz making the exact same charge he accurately reported her as having made in the first place.
