Ferguson 'Hands Up' Gesture Makes House Floor; Politico Fails to Flag It As Bogus

Certain members of Congress abused their positions Monday to imply that "Hands up, don't shoot" was something Michael Brown actually said before he was killed by police officer Darren Wilson in Ferguson, Missouri in August.

On Friday, the Associated Press irresponsibly gave voice to those who say that the slogan is now a "metaphor" for police brutality targeted against blacks, even though the claim that Michael Brown did or said any such thing has been completely discredited by the physical evidence and the grand jury's credible witnesses. In covering the congressional histrionics, Lucy McCalmont at the Politico, aka Pathetico (HT Seton Motley) took things to the next level.

One thing the establishment press will not be celebrating this evening as we head into 2014 is the fact that they have been unable to convince the American people that the economy has been and will continue to be on the rebound.

A CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll released on Friday, which "oddly enough" (no, not really) is not being touted at ORC's related press release web page, shows that 68 percent of Americans believe the economy is in poor shape. Over half expect the economy to be in that condition a year from now. This came as somewhat of a surprise to Lucy McCalmont at the Politico and Gregory Wallace at CNNMoney.com.

Not News: Jessica Sanford 'Screwed' by Washington State's Obamacare Exchange

Anyone out there who still doesn't believe or won't admit that the establishment press is hopelessly biased in favor of the left, particularly the Obama administration, needs to have the establishment press's virtual failure to cover the Jessica Sanford story rubbed in their faces.

Ms. Sanford is the unfortunate victim of deception by Washington state's Obamacare exchange. When it was thought that she would get a significant Obamacare subsidy and a net monthly premium of $169, President Obama touted her story based on a letter she wrote to him in a Rose Garden speech. Ms. Sanford has since learned that the state exchange seriously erred, and that she will get no subsidy at all. Because she can't afford to pay the monthly premium, which now appears to be in the neighborhood of $600 a month (her original premium was said to be $169, and her original subsidy was reported as $452), she will go without health insurance coverage next year and pay the Affordable Care Act's mandated fine.

'Dr. Seuss Expert'? Politico Turns to Far-Left Former ACORN Adviser to Bash Ted Cruz

Politico's Lucy McCalmont passed off a left wing professor as a "Dr. Seuss expert" in a Wednesday item about Senator Ted Cruz reading "Green Eggs and Ham" to his daughters during his marathon floor speech. McCalmont spent the bulk of her short article quoting from Occidental College's Peter Dreier slamming Cruz. The academician contended that Seuss would be "offended at almost everything that Ted Cruz stands for...he's a bully"

The writer identified Dreier as a "professor of politics", but failed to point out his far-left ideology, which includes serving as a consultant for ACORN and boosting a campaign to nominate former communist Pete Singer for the Nobel Peace Prize.
