Following his lambasting of the liberal media and the CNBC moderators during the last Republican debate on October 28, Republican Senator Ted Cruz took his latest swipe at the “mainstream media” in Tuesday’s Fox Business Network event for their coverage of illegal immigration and maligning those opposing amnesty. Cruz started his takedown by first pointing out that “when the mainstream media covers immigration, it doesn't often see it as an economic issue.”

The “big three” networks of ABC, CBS, and NBC punted Tuesday night on news that Senate Democrats successfully blocked legislation aimed at cracking down on sanctuary cities. Doing the job the networks could have been doing, Fox Business Network (FBN) host Lou Dobbs alerted his views on Tuesday to the story that he described as “business as usual” with “Senate Republican leadership permitting Senate Democrats to successfully filibuster Republican legislation that would have cracked down on sanctuary cities.”

The “big three” of ABC, CBS, and NBC again promoted on Wednesday night the three-round bout between 2016 GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump and liberal Fusion/Univision anchor Jorge Ramos from the night before as ABC and CBS failed to note Hillary Clinton addressing her e-mail scandal Wednesday afternoon in Iowa.

On Tuesday, the CBS Evening News happened to stumble upon and offer up a solid report on one of the newest chapters in the illegal immigration fight as the city council of Huntington Park, California took the step earlier this month to appoint two illegal immigrants to posts on the city’s advisory commission.

In yet another example of bias by omission, the “big three” of ABC, CBS, and NBC all refused to cover on Tuesday night a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing from hours earlier devoted to sanctuary cities and murders committed by illegal immigrants who benefitted from the policy. As it often does, FNC’s Special Report was there to pick up the pieces left by their network equivalents with a full segment on Tuesday’s program by chief congressional correspondent Mike Emanuel.

On Monday night, the major broadcast networks were out in full force to go after Republican Governor Scott Walker (Wisc.) during 2016 presidential announcement for his stance on illegal immigration, “no foreign policy experience,” and comments about union protesters along with an urging by ABC’s David Muir to criticize fellow presidential candidate Donald Trump. Muir scored an interview with Walker and, like his interview with Jeb Bush, Muir neglected to even mention issues such as the economy, distrust in government or ObamaCare.

Bush discussing on Thursday night the 2016 race, Friday’s CBS This Morning dedicated two segments to going after the Republican Party through the lens of presidential candidate Donald Trump in ruling that he’s “causing more angst” in the GOP and “burn[ed]” down the party’s “bridge” to Hispanics voters.

On the heels of the decision by Monday’s NBC Nightly News to heavily inject politics into the murder of 32-year-old Kathryn Steinle allegedly by an illegal immigrant, Friday’s CBS This Morning used the issue of sanctuary cities to somehow spin it as part of the immigration debate that’s “a tough issue for Republicans.” Correspondent Jan Crawford explained that sanctuary cities “have long been controversial” even though “[t]he thinking originally was they were a way to support immigrants, get them help if they got involved with minor offenses” but with Steinle’s murder “and immigration a contentious issue on the campaign, many politicians now are demanding change.”

Amid the ongoing media coverage surrounding Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on illegal immigration, Thursday’s NBC Nightly News surprisingly went down to the U.S.-Mexico border to further understand on the situation. Following a news brief that mentioned a protest at the site of a Trump hotel being built in Washington D.C., anchor Lester Holt explained that even though some are “angered” by Trump’s remarks, they “are striking a cord” “for others” as they “believe he’s calling attention to a vital threat along our border.”

After providing relatively substantial coverage on the July 1 murder of a San Francisco woman allegedly at the hands of an illegal immigrant, CBS and NBC chose to provide their viewers on Tuesday night with other stories and ignored the latest developments and continued questions regarding the disturbing murder. While they failed to refer to the alleged murderer an illegal immigrant, ABC’s World News Tonight continued to stay on this story with a full report from correspondent Tom Llamas.
