Jay Carney Attacks Major Garrett's Question to Obama on Iran: ‘Pompous’ and ‘Offensive’

Sunday on Reliable Sources, Brian Stelter brought Jay Carney and John King to the program to discuss CBS reporter Major Garrett’s controversial question to President Obama about Iran. Garrett asked the president whether he could be content with the Iran deal knowing that there were four hostages still in Iran.  

Carney hit Garrett, calling him “pompous” and deeming his question “offensive.” The long time White House press secretary for the Obama administration said “he understood why the president took offense.” noting it was a “poorly chosen word” on Garrett’s part.

On June 20, a rally in support of traditional marriage drew between 300,000 and 1 million people to Rome. No major news reported on the event, which is strange, considering how much they love reporting on marriage-centric marches.

No one would accuse popular media outlets like USA Today, CNN, and ABC News of ignoring the gay marriage movement, or gays in general. They spent gallons of ink and minutes of airtime on pride parades in the month of June, but they couldn’t spare a drop or a second for Sunday’s rally in Rome.

Even though the 2016 presidential election is more than 16 months away, two cable news outlets announced on Wednesday the criteria for the first two GOP debates.

The initial event, which will be hosted by the Fox News Channel and take place on Thursday, August 6, at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio, will be moderated by network anchors Bret Baier, Megyn Kelly and Chris Wallace.

Former ABC Colleagues: Stephanopoulos 'Very Foolish,' 'Really Isn't a Journalist'

The fallout from the revelation that ABC's George Stephanopoulos -- the co-anchor of Good Morning America and host of the Sunday morning This Week program -- donated $75,000 to the foundation run by Hillary Clinton and her family intensified on May 17, when two of his former co-workers hammered him while they were guests on CNN's Reliable Sources show.

The strongest criticism came from Carol Simpson, who indicated that after Stephanopoulos was the communications director for Bill Clinton's 1992 presidential campaign, he served as White House communication director until 1996: "There is a coziness that George cannot escape."

CNN, CNBC and MSNBC Push Infrastructure Funding After Amtrak Accident

At least six people died and many more were injured in a terrible Amtrak accident on the night of May 12, and before the cause had been discovered, multiple cable news networks used the tragedy to make a political point.

Programming on CNN, CNBC and MSNBC all used the accident to claim the government needed to spent more on infrastructure all before National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) investigators made an assessment to determine the cause of the crash.

Just when the Cable News Network had actually gained ground in its ratings by picking up 555,000 viewers -- a rise of two percent -- in the third quarter of 2014, CNN has become one of the seven victims of a contract dispute between its parent company, Atlanta-based Turner Broadcasting, and the Dish Network, which has 14 million subscribers.

Another news-related casualty of the dispute is HLN, which lost 352,000 viewers from July through September. Formerly known as Headline News, the network's viewership fell four percent during that period.

CNN Guest Rips Media For Being 'Used As Dupes' By Hamas

In a surprising segment, CNN’s New Day discussed the role of the media in the Israel-Hamas conflict and whether they are providing proper context regarding the two sides. In an interview with co-host Kate Bolduan, guest Lee Habeeb, columnist for National Review, slammed the media for its biased coverage of the issue. In fact, in a recent piece for NRO, Habeeb went so far as to claim that the media have acted as "co-conspirators" to Hamas.

When Bolduan asked where Habeeb believed the media was lacking, he argued that “the point of the spear is the media and dead children and dead women...and I don’t believe the media is covering it.” Toward the end of the segment, Bolduan cited Hamas political leader Khaled Mashaal, who claimed that the U.S. has now adopted the Israeli narrative. CBS Reports On Cuomo Corruption Scandal; Still No Coverage From CNN

CBS This Morning stood out as the lone network morning newscast to cover the growing corruption scandal surrounding New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, devoting 2 minutes and 32 seconds to the story. The program cited a New York Times report that the Governor hired a criminal defense attorney in preparation for possible obstruction of justice or witness tampering charges.

Meanwhile, the CNN, NBC and ABC morning shows all passed on covering the new developments of the scandal. Since the story broke on July 23, CNN – who employs Andrew Cuomo’s brother, Chris, as the co-host of New Day – has not mentioned the story even one time on their network, despite regular coverage from other cable networks. Not a Peep on CNN About Investigation Into New York Governor Cuomo

Over the past week, Governor Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) has been embroiled in a political scandal following his decision to cancel his own Moreland Commission, created to expose political corruption in the state capitol. On July 23, the New York Times reported “that the governor’s office deeply compromised the panel’s work, objecting whenever the commission focused on groups with ties to Mr. Cuomo or on issues that might reflect poorly on him.”

Since the news broke on July 23, the U.S. Attorney’s office in Manhattan has threatened to investigate the Cuomo administration for “possible obstruction of justice or witness tampering.” Despite the potential damning investigation against the New York Democrat, CNN — where Governor Cuomo’s brother Chris Cuomo is employed as anchor of New Day — has yet to acknowledge its existence. CNN's Zakaria: Maliki 'Has His Own Tea Party' In Iraqi Shiite Militia

Hyperbolic claims about the Tea Party are nothing new from the mainstream media, but now admitted plagiarist Fareed Zakaria is comparing the conservative group to a radical Islamist sect, rehashing the same tired comparison other liberal journalists and pundits have made before.

On the June 29 edition of Fareed Zakaria GPS, the host compared the Tea Party to the Mahdi Army, an Iraqi Shiite paramilitary force that is opposed to both the Maliki regime and the radical Sunni group ISIS [MP3 audio here; video below]:

CNN's Candy Crowley: Is Bergdahl ‘Less Worthy’ of Saving Than a Young John McCain?

Candy Crowley, in continuing to carry water for the Obama administration, pressed Arizona Senator John McCain on State of the Union on whether Bowe Bergdahl was “less worthy of rescue” than a young John McCain when he was a POW during the Vietnam War.

Crowley led off her interview by acknowledging McCain’s service in Vietnam, complimenting him for serving with “courage” and “honor” and “valor.” Seeming to ignore her own kind words, she immediately went after the Arizona senator. After identifying the circumstances surrounding the capture of Bergdahl–likely deserter, possible defector, possible converter to Islam–Crowley posed this question to McCain [MP3 audio here; video below]:
