The Canadian government is souring maple syrup production in Quebec, according to The New York Times.
Through the Federation of Quebec Maple Syrup Producers, an agency, the Times referred to as a “cartel,” the Canadian government has seized control of 70 percent of the world’s maple syrup supply and turned the lives of Canadian farmers upside down.
One socialist coalition is inadvertently relying on capitalism to protest just that.
The World Socialist Web Site and other groups sponsored the International May Day Online rally, which will feature live speeches streaming around the world on May 3, 2015. Malloy has carved out quite a niche for himself among "progressives" -- too toxic for Air America Radio back before it went belly-up and actually to the left of Ed Schultz. But the man deserves credit for his candor when it comes to capitalism -- he loathes it, as all committed socialists do -- and Malloy is not ashamed to say so, unlike many other socialists who are curiously reluctant to acknowledge their ideology. In “Rumsfeld’s Rules: Leadership Lessons in Business, Politics, War, and Life,” released on May 14, Rumsfeld expounded on capitalism, and why we need more people to defend it in our society. “I suppose if more business leaders defended capitalism, there might not be quite as many smiling photos with politicians,” he wrote.
