Monday morning saw the news that the Biden administration is trying to change the definition of a “recession.” It seems as though CBS Mornings on Monday got a jump on the official government talking points. Reporter Ramy Inocencio focused on the upside to the inflation, high gas prices and struggling economy: Cheap gelatos, croissants and espressos over in Europe. 

For years, journalists and experts alike have argued in favor of the definition which the Biden administration has just tried to undo: that at least two straight quarters of negative GDP growth means the country is in a recession.

We are just 15 weeks away from election day in what is already shaping up to be a contentious 2022 midterm season. If the press follows their typical campaign play book, journalists will pick out certain conservative candidates who commit gaffes or make odd comments and try and make them the face of the GOP.

The Oscar-winning producer had the film industry under his thumb, but along the way he used that power to sexually punish starlets. He’s sitting in jail now for his crimes, but the investigate report that sealed his downfall will soon be a major motion picture.

This week saw Joe Biden’s cratering poll numbers fall even lower. On Wednesday, four polls came out and the results are bleak. Reuters: 36 percent. Politico: 38 percent. Rasmussen: 39 percent. For the second weekend in a row, Politico’s Sam Stein guest hosted MSNBC’s Velshi. On this Saturday, Stein accused pro-lifers in Kansas of “essentially trick their citizens into voting away their own rights” on an upcoming ballot measure on August 2.

CNN senior legal analyst Laura Coates guest hosted Friday’s edition of Don Lemon Tonight where she and her guests hyped California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s “trolling” of the Supreme Court and Texas on the issue of gun control.

After minimal coverage Friday morning of the violent assassination attempt of New York Republican Congressman Lee Zeldin as he campaigned for governor, ABC’s World News Tonight and CBS Evening News downplayed the attack with the latter calling the weapon just a keychain. And NBC Nightly News ignored the attack altogether to focus on lost luggage at airports.
