Hot-tempered comedian Lewis Black has never been shy when it comes to taking on controversial topics, and his latest crusade has paired the foul-mouthed performer with the American Civil Liberties Union in an attempt to “F@&* Voter Suppression,” particularly through requiring voters to have IDs with their picture on them.

In a fake “photo shoot” with Dale Ho, director of the ACLU's voting rights program, Black declares: “Elected officials shouldn't get to choose who gets to choose elected officials! Look, people marched and fought and died for the right to vote, and they wanna legislate away that sacrifice to stay in power? Not on my watch, baby!

Even Us Magazine is noticing movie star Gwyneth Paltrow oozing all over President Obama at a $32,500-a-head fundraiser in her back yard on Thursday: “overcome with nerves, the actress stumbled a little before passing the microphone off to the President, telling him flirtatiously, ‘You're so handsome that I can't speak properly.’”

That came after she declared "I am one of your biggest fans, if not the biggest," before praising him for being an "incredible role model." While Obama’s approval rating is in the dumps – in general and on specific issues – he could probably use some of that old 2008 bowing and scraping.

The Sunday newspaper supplement Parade Magazine carried an interview Sunday with Tea Leoni, star of the new CBS series Madam Secretary, who confirmed that the infamous “What difference does it make?” testimony of Hillary Clinton on Benghazi inspired the new show.

Morgan Freeman wondered what Hillary went home to after the hearing was over, and what she talked about.

Actor Viggo Mortensen hasn’t been in any big movies since he played Aragorn in “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy, but now he’s promoting his new movie with Kirsten Dunst called “The Two Faces of January.” He stopped by Huffington Post Live September 16, to talk about the movie, but if a Huffington Post reporter is interviewing, you can be sure they will find a way to bash conservative media any chance they get.

As the interview turned to the actor’s past expressed liberal opinions, Mortensen lamented how most people only turn to media that reaffirms their own viewpoints, but claimed he was different because he tried to listen to right-wing news, but it was so offensive he can only listen in “small doses.” He called liberal radio is not as "brazen a form of lying" as Fox News.

The “Christian Right” is not only “homophobic”  but also actively experiments on gays with science, according to “Sherlock” actor Benedict Cumberbatch.

In an interview with Marlow Stern of The Daily Beast published Sept. 8, the English actor also said that the U.S. needs to have a woman president next, followed by a gay president. Cumberbatch’s comments were apparently inspired by the lyrics to a Morrissey song.

Somebody takes Russell Brand seriously. You know, the British comic actor? The one known mostly for his brief marriage to pop star Katy Perry? He’s that guy that did the abysmal remake of the classic movie “Arthur.” Maybe you know him for his drug use?

Anyway, people actually watch Brand’s Youtube video channel, “The Trews,” for his take on the issues of the day. The Huffington Post, NPR, Upworthy, The Washington Post and The Guardian have published his opinions. That’s despite (or more likely because) the fact that those opinions are unoriginal, often hate-filled, intolerant left-wing rants that run to conspiracy theories about corporations and “power structures.” He’s a celebrity of sorts eager to communicate opinions that news and entertainment media elites mostly share, so they’re happy to give him a platform.

In May, actress Shailene Woodley upset the leftists by saying “No” to the question “Do you consider yourself a feminist?” Her first words to Time magazine were “No, because I love men.” Now actress Chloe Grace Moretz, five years younger than Woodley, is suggesting Woodley isn't very smart.

In the September issue of the women's-beauty magazine Allure – on which they make the 17-year-old “Diary of A Wimpy Kid” actress look like she’s 30 – Moretz whacked Woodley as failing to understand that feminism just means standing up for yourself, standing up for what other women have done for you:

Billy Crystal held it together for a heart-warming tribute to Robin Williams at the Emmy Awards: "The brilliance was astounding. The relentless energy was kind of thrilling. I used to think if I could just put a saddle on him and stay on him for eight seconds I was going to do okay.”

But The Independent (U.K.) noticed that on Twitter, Williams was denounced as “racist” for a routine in which he mocked a woman in a hijab in Iran saying “Help me!” That’s apparently racist? Making a little fun that perhaps a woman in Iran wouldn't feel liberated?

At the end of July, The Hollywood Reporter relayed that actors Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz, among others, signed an open letter denouncing Israel’s war against Hamas in the Gaza strip as “genocide.”

Now that same publication is reporting that more than 190 Hollywood heavies have signed a letter in defense of Israel, from Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone to Sarah Silverman.

“What really gets” actress Chloe Grace Moretz “going” is Hillary Clinton, a USA Today reporter discovered in meeting her for a profile piece on the 17-year-old star of If I Stay, the movie which opened yesterday (Friday) that’s based on the young adult novel by Gayle Forman.

“‘I cried when I met her,’ says Moretz, who calls Clinton an ‘icon.’”

The Boston Herald reports that “Teamsters Local 25 — the crew that drives for most TV and movie productions made in Massachusetts — reportedly harassed and threatened” the cast and crew of Bravo’s “Top Chef” when they taped their latest season in the area and used non-union drivers. Unions rarely make national news, and this will probably be no exception. What about "Entertainment Tonight" or "Access Hollywood"?

When comely “Top Chef” host Padma Lakshmi arrived on the set, picketers called her a “(expletive) whore,” a Herald source confirmed, and threatened to “bash that pretty face in.” Deadline.com said there was more than that:

The absolute coziness of the Hollywood Left and the Clintons is demonstrated by a new video made for the Bill, Hillary, and Chelsea Clinton Foundation. Kevin Spacey appears as his “House of Cards” character Frank Underwood and calls up Hillary and does a Bill Clinton impersonation. It’s hard to see it as anything but cheesy, smoochy material  – unless you’re a big Clinton fan.

The media and political elites adore “House of Cards,” and Colby Itkowitz and Sebastian Payne at The Washington Post singled out Congressman Paul Ryan for disliking its moral turpitude in an article titled “If it’s Clinton vs. Ryan in 2016, Frank Underwood already has his pick.” (Video below)
