Ted Cruz

The New York Times refusal to list Senator Ted Cruz's book, A Time For Truth, last Sunday on its best seller list caused it quite a bit of criticism and embarrassment when it came up with no proof to back up its claim that the book's sales were due in part to bulk sales. Apparently the Times' could only tolerate just so much well deserved mockery because today their BizDay editor, Kate Phillips, tweeted that they were relenting on their fake objection and would be placing Cruz's book on their best seller list for nonfiction. The problem is that Phillips' tweet started out rather snarkily as you can see below. However, that snark invited a swarm of amusing snark attacks in reply:

On the July 13 edition of The Kelly File, Fox personalities Megyn Kelly and Howard Kurtz hit The New York Times for leaving Ted Cruz’s new book, A Time For Truth, off their best seller list because of the paper’s suspicions about bulk purchases.

Timothy Egan, liberal New York Times reporter turned left-wing Times columnist, portrayed the Republican field as avidly chasing the "red-faced" "immigrant-hatred vote," calling out not only Donald Trump but Ted Cruz, a Cuban-American: "It will only get better as Republican primaries move into all-white, anti-immigrant strongholds. Here, you can expect to see clusters of red-faced older men clutching copies of ¡Adios, America! The Left’s Plan to Turn Our Country Into a Third World Hellhole, by the polemicist Ann Coulter...."

While liberals bray about how Donald Trump’s brand is unraveling, the phrase “New York Times best-seller” ought to be the unraveling brand. Dylan Byers at Politico reports the Ted Cruz campaign and Harper Collins are challenging the strange denial of best-seller status for the new Cruz campaign book A Time for Truth.
The point here is when you have a "Best Sellers list" many apparently silly readers might think it's based on which books Sell Best. The Times is accusing Cruz of manipulating sales figures...but the Times looks quite guilty of manipulating its list.

Politico media correspondent Dylan Byers is reporting that the publisher of Ted Cruz's new book inquired of the New York Times why, exactly, his popular new book A Time for Truth was not included on the bestseller list.

From distorting his voting record to calling the junior senator from Texas a latter-day McCarthy, MSNBC host Chris Matthews has made pretty clear his visceral disdain for Tea Party conservative and Republican presidential aspirant Ted Cruz. Tonight, however, Cruz entered into the lion's den itself, sitting down with Matthews for an interview on Hardball.

After watching anchor Jorge Ramos’ complete interview of Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) on Fusion, I immediately began to speculate as to which parts would be left on the cutting room floor during its Sunday rebroadcast on Univision’s Al Punto. It didn’t take me long to find out that I was right.

Katie Couric conducted a condescending interview on Yahoo with Ted Cruz, asking the Republican if he has "any empathy" for immigrants as he opposes Barack Obama. The presidential candidate also zinged the liberal journalist, reminding her that it was Hillary Clinton who first started the birther campaign. Couric lectured: "So, given the fact that your father immigrated here from Cuba, do you have any empathy for people who come here looking for a better way of life?"

On the June 30 edition of America with Jorge Ramos on Fusion, Ramos and Ted Cruz engaged in a testy back and forth over the Texas senator’s views on gay marriage. Ramos asked Cruz: “But aren’t you discriminating? Are you putting gays and the LGBT community as second class citizen[s]?” Cruz replied by citing his belief that “following the Constitution isn’t discriminating against anyone.”
In an interview with Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz on Monday’s NBC Today, co-host Savannah Guthrie grilled the Texas Senator on his opposition to the Supreme Court’s gay marriage ruling, equating his stance with being against interracial marriage: “...one thing you also said was that you would support a Texas state clerk who refused to issue a license to a gay couple on religious grounds. Let me ask you this, if a state clerk refused to issue a marriage license to an interracial couple, would you agree with that, too?”
