The New York Times refusal to list Senator Ted Cruz's book, A Time For Truth, last Sunday on its best seller list caused it quite a bit of criticism and embarrassment when it came up with no proof to back up its claim that the book's sales were due in part to bulk sales. Apparently the Times' could only tolerate just so much well deserved mockery because today their BizDay editor, Kate Phillips, tweeted that they were relenting on their fake objection and would be placing Cruz's book on their best seller list for nonfiction. The problem is that Phillips' tweet started out rather snarkily as you can see below. However, that snark invited a swarm of amusing snark attacks in reply:

Timothy Egan, liberal New York Times reporter turned left-wing Times columnist, portrayed the Republican field as avidly chasing the "red-faced" "immigrant-hatred vote," calling out not only Donald Trump but Ted Cruz, a Cuban-American: "It will only get better as Republican primaries move into all-white, anti-immigrant strongholds. Here, you can expect to see clusters of red-faced older men clutching copies of ¡Adios, America! The Left’s Plan to Turn Our Country Into a Third World Hellhole, by the polemicist Ann Coulter...."

While liberals bray about how Donald Trump’s brand is unraveling, the phrase “New York Times best-seller” ought to be the unraveling brand. Dylan Byers at Politico reports the Ted Cruz campaign and Harper Collins are challenging the strange denial of best-seller status for the new Cruz campaign book A Time for Truth.
The point here is when you have a "Best Sellers list" many apparently silly readers might think it's based on which books Sell Best. The Times is accusing Cruz of manipulating sales figures...but the Times looks quite guilty of manipulating its list.

Katie Couric conducted a condescending interview on Yahoo with Ted Cruz, asking the Republican if he has "any empathy" for immigrants as he opposes Barack Obama. The presidential candidate also zinged the liberal journalist, reminding her that it was Hillary Clinton who first started the birther campaign. Couric lectured: "So, given the fact that your father immigrated here from Cuba, do you have any empathy for people who come here looking for a better way of life?"

On the June 30 edition of America with Jorge Ramos on Fusion, Ramos and Ted Cruz engaged in a testy back and forth over the Texas senator’s views on gay marriage. Ramos asked Cruz: “But aren’t you discriminating? Are you putting gays and the LGBT community as second class citizen[s]?” Cruz replied by citing his belief that “following the Constitution isn’t discriminating against anyone.”
