Les Moonves, chairman and chief executive officer of the CBS Corporation, responded to criticism that the network was replacing David Letterman, a liberal comedian and longtime host of the weeknight Late Show program, with Stephen Colbert, another liberal comic and host of The Colbert Report, who is likely to continue making fun of conservatives and Republicans when he leaves his Comedy Channel program to replace Letterman sometime in 2015.
“Ironically, Stephen Colbert is much more moderate than people think he is,” Moonves said on Wednesday. "He's a great social commentator, and that's sort of what we want. That's sort of what David Letterman has been."

On today's Morning Joe, Zbigniew Brzezinski argued that the US needs to discuss with Ukraine the provision of defensive weapons in the face of the Russian threat. He then mockingly observed: "the Ukrainians did ask us for help in that regard. Do you know what our answer has been? We offered them prepackaged food for their soldiers. Well, you can't win a military conflict by throwing pancakes at somebody." The laughter on the normally Obama-friendly set should still be ringing in the President's ears. Chris Matthews did his best on Wednesday to get Jimmy Carter to fulsomely endorse Hillary Clinton for president in 2016, but just couldn't quite get a satisfying answer. In an interview on Hardball, Matthews began by noting how the former president has been "championing the cause" of "equal rights for women." He pressed, "Has a woman president -- has that time arrived? Obviously talking about Secretary Clinton here."
Carter proceeded to avoid the question and instead talk about women's rights in the world. So, Matthews, tried again: "Well, what do you think would be good about having Hillary Clinton president?" Again, Carter dodged. This prompted Matthews to later chide: "I expect that Hillaryland will notice the sin of omission." [See video below. MP3 audio here.]

His interview with former president Jimmy Carter didn't go quite as Thom Hartmann expected, which made it all the more amusing.

New York Times writer Sheryl Gay Stolberg on Thursday highlighted glowing supporters of Jimmy Carter as she promoted a new Broadway play about the life of the former president. Stolberg parroted that "acolytes of Mr. Carter hope that 'Camp David'...will be a powerful reminder of the signature triumph of the Carter presidency and perhaps revive the decades-long effort to rehabilitate him."
The play focuses around Carter's 1978 efforts to negociate a peace treaty between Israel and Egypt. Stolberg allowed the type of self-aggrandizing comments that – if spoken by a Republican – would prompt the Times to make accusations of mental instability or a messianic complex. She related, "Mr. Carter told the playwright [Lawrence Wright] and the producer that he felt 'God wanted him to play a role' in Middle East peace."

Stephen Colbert boosted Jimmy Carter's new book on Tuesday's Colbert Report – a mere day after the former president blamed Catholicism, as well as the Southern Baptist Convention, for the abuse of women across the globe. Carter offered a toned-down version of this eyebrow-raising argument: "If you're a male religious leader, and you want to stay in unchallenged power and not have women challengers, then you can pick some of those things that...St. Paul said."

President Jimmy Carter must watch a lot of MSNBC because he did an excellent job pushing their liberal talking points. The Georgia Democrat appeared on the March 23rd “Morning Joe” to promote his latest book and subsequently repeated MSNBC’s liberal agenda.
Appearing on Monday, Carter falsely claimed that “Women get about 23% less pay for men for the same job" an incorrect statistic that MSNBC has been peddling across the network as of late. [See video below.]

President Jimmy Carter stopped by MSNBC’s "Morning Joe" on Monday March 24, and was immediately treated to a slobbering video montage courtesy of co-host Mika Brzezinski.
Brzezinski, whose father Zbigniew Brzezinski served as Carter’s National Security Advisor, narrated a five minute pre-taped segment highlighting her time in the White House. The segment ignored the negatives of the Carter Administration but was full of sappy pictures of a young Mika at the White House where she recalled that she “named my pet rabbit after the man who became the first president of Iran after the 1979 revolution, Bunny Sadr.” [See video below.]
