During Tuesday evening's edition of The Late Show with David Letterman on CBS, Rachel Maddow -- host of her own eponymous weeknight program on MSNBC – told the retiring host/comedian that the problems in Ferguson, Missouri, are the result of a number of intersecting conflicts.

People in the community feel “very unrepresented” in the government, she stated, which is in part due to the large disparity between the number of black citizens and local officials of the same race. Finally, Maddow claimed that Americans found it “terrifying” to see the type of military-style weaponry the small-town police department used to control demonstrators and protesters when incidents of unrest threatened to become dangerous riots.

Among the things that conservative firebreather Rush Limbaugh deservedly loathes, it's sanctimony from an ostensibly neutral news anchor.

Gwen Ifill, moderator of "Washington Week" and co-anchor of "PBS NewsHour," was among the panelists who appeared on "Meet the Press" this past Sunday. The discussion inevitably turned to the shooting death of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo., and the civil unrest that followed. (Audio clips after the jump)

The Washington Post is almost certain to endorse liberal Democrat Anthony Brown for Maryland governor. So it's really no surprise that the paper's news reporters and editors have taken an incredibly light touch when it comes to the lieutenant governor's political liabilities. Chief among them is the disastrous rollout of the state's ObamaCare exchange, which, as I've previously noted, the paper has been careful to report in such a way that downplays Brown's responsibility as outgoing Gov. Martin O'Malley's ObamaCare implementation point man.

The Post turned once again to that template today in Jenna Johnson and Mary Pat Flaherty's below-the-fold Metro front-pager, "Auditors seek data tied to Md. exchange launch." "GOP's Harris, who urged probe, says subpoenas were issued as result," added the subheader. Johnson and Flaherty waited until the 14th paragraph in their 17-paragraph story to note Republican criticism of Brown, and quickly followed that up with a boiler-plate response from a Brown flack:

The news media think that because gas prices have fallen to an average of $3.43-a-gallon there is room to rejoice, even as the record streak of gas prices above $3-a-gallon continues. By Labor Day that record will stand at 1,349 days.

ABC’s “Good Morning America” praised the “nice surprise” of lower gas prices on Aug. 26, just in time for Labor Day weekend.

When far-left, white, British comedic actor Russell Brand scolded a black WSJ political commentator, Jason Riley as “freakish” and a “betrayer” of his race for not buying into the liberal narrative on the death of Michael Brown, Brand probably didn’t realize how racist and arrogant he came across.

In the video posted to Brand’s Youtube channel Aug. 21, he mocks Riley’s “white” sounding voice and mimicked Riley, saying,“I am a convenient African American who will betray my racial roots for Fox News!” Since the mainstream media never reports on these revealing confessions made by liberal actors, Greg Gutfeld did on Fox News’ “The Five,”Aug. 26.  

Mark Litke hyped the "population explosion – what some are calling a crisis" in the Philippines on Sunday's PBS NewsHour Weekend, and played up how poor "families in Asia's most Catholic country...have had little or no access to contraception or family planning advice." Litke confronted a retired Catholic archbishop on his Church's teaching against birth control: "If the people of the Philippines are in support of...contraception...why would the Church oppose any of that?"

The former ABC correspondent later lamented how the Supreme Court of the Philippines protected the religious liberties of Catholic institutions in the country as it upheld a "new reproductive health care law" that subsidizes birth control: [video below the jump]

As news broke on Tuesday of Burger King buying Tim Hortons and moving its corporate headquarters to Canada, the broadcast networks quickly adopted the liberal talking point that the fast food chain was being unpatriotic by avoiding high U.S. tax rates. On Tuesday's ABC World News, anchor Diane Sawyer proclaimed: "Burger King, home of the Whopper, accused of doing something a lot of Americans question, defecting. Heading north of the border to Canada and saving a lot of tax money." [Listen to the audio or watch the video after the jump]

On Wednesday's Today, correspondent John Yang touted "a whopper of a controversy" over the move and announced: "...just the idea of moving the headquarters to Canada has some once-loyal Burger King subjects ready to revolt....On Burger King's Facebook page, nearly 5,000 posts, most critical. 'You abandon the America that made you and we will abandon you.'"

Unlike her colleagues at the Big Three (ABC, CBS, NBC) networks, investigative reporter Sharyl Attkisson, on Tuesday night, actually dug into the finer points behind the big bombshells revealed in the IRS scandal this week.

Invited on Fox Business Network’s Lou Dobbs Tonight to discuss the revelations of a Department of Justice (DOJ) lawyer confirming the existence of Lois Lerner’s “missing” e-mails and the IRS’s destruction of her Blackberry (stories the networks through Wednesday morning have yet to touch) Attkisson also did a great job of explaining the conflict of interest going on at the DOJ. Was CNN pranked yet again by that infamous Howard Stern show fan, Captain Janks aka Tom Cipriano, when they played an audio of a sexy online chat with ten shots going off in the background  supposedly in Ferguson, MO at the same time as the Michael Brown shooting? If so, it would be far from the first time that Captain Janks easily pranked CNN which is so desperate for ratings that vetting their sources is low/no priority. As reported by Eric Wemple at the Washington Post, experts appearing on CNN are now casting aspersions as to the authenticity of that audio and suspect it could be the result of a Howard Stern fan prank:
