MRC's Tim Graham on Fox: Media Doesn't Care About Embassy Security, Just Boosting Hillary in '16

January 24th, 2014 8:11 AM

MRC director of media analysis Tim Graham appeared on Thursday’s Cavuto show on the Fox News Channel on the one-year anniversary of Hillary’s contemptuous performance in Senate testimony on the Benghazi fiasco. Host Neil Cavuto played a series of the media’s “greatest hits” of Hillary boosting and compared them to the media’s current aggression against Chris Christie.

Townhall’s Katie Pavlich also appeared to insist the media care more about boosting Hillary than about getting answers for the families who lost loved ones in the Benghazi terrorist attack. Graham said all the networks had a chance to interview Hillary and utterly failed to get answers: [Video, transcript below]

KATIE PAVLICH: The media has -- outside of Fox News and a couple other outlets – have been more concerned about protecting the reputation of Hillary Clinton for 2016 than getting the answers that people like [Sean Smith’s mother] Patricia Smith want. This is about accountability, and I hope, I hope that someone will hold Hillary Clinton accountable for her lack of accountability when it comes to this issue.

NEIL CAVUTO: Tim, I just hope someone holds someone accountable in the media for its disparate coverage. That’s another thing I hope for, but what do you say?

TIM GRAHAM: Well, a year ago, you know, she gave this testimony, and we waited months for it, and you saw the way they treated her. The package really illustrates it. But after the testimony then she did interviews, like you showed Steve Kroft. She did an interview with Nightline, with Cynthia McFadden. She did an interview with Andrea Mitchell, and in every case, it was just like this. How are you? How do you feel? None of the requests the victims' families would ask about this, and that is "How could this happen?"

The media here is not supposed to care about who’s running in 2016. None of us know whether Chris Christie or Hillary Clinton are going to run. None of us knows if we’re going to be alive in 2016! Why don’t you focus on what happened here and that is, why did they fail to provide security to these embassies? We have been asked this question over and over again. That's what all the time has been spent on in Congress. It is not the question our media seems to care about. All they talk about is, “can anybody stop Hillary?” That’s the latest cover of Time magazine." How about “Can anybody stop the media from being this biased?”

MRC started a Twitter hashtag yesterday -- #itmakesadifference -- to underline the American people still deserve answers on Benghazi from Hillary Clinton and the rest of Team Obama.
