Report: Sarah Palin Cancels Interview With Matt Lauer Over Martin Bashir Slur

November 20th, 2013 5:08 PM

As first reported by NewsBusters, MSNBC’s Martin Bashir ended his program Friday giving arguably the most deplorable defamation of former Alaska governor Sarah Palin by anyone to date.

According to Fox News media analyst Howard Kurtz, Palin has canceled an upcoming interview with Today show host Matt Lauer as a result:

The former Alaska governor and Fox News contributor was scheduled to sit down with Matt Lauer for a Christmas season interview. That's now toast.

Palin has now canceled Lauer's scheduled trip to Wasilla, a source close to her tells me. It's not because Palin is upset with Lauer or the "Today" show, but as a protest against NBC for not taking action against Bashir. In fact, Palin once sat in as a "Today"co-host [sic].

Tim Crawford, treasurer of Palin's political action committee, had told NBC News President Deborah Turness and MSNBC President Phil Griffin that "Americans deserve to know that your network doesn't condone violent and hateful rhetoric."

This certainly has nothing to do with Lauer because Palin was just interviewed by him last week about her new book. Obviously, she doesn't think Bashir's apology Monday was enough.

Will other conservatives join the former governor in such a boycott until MSNBC/NBC take some action that demonstrates that their networks don't "condone violent and hateful rhetoric?"

Stay tuned.
