CBS’s Bob Schieffer Falsely Claims ‘Polls Say That Most People Favor’ ObamaCare

In defiance of reality illustrated in numerous polls, on Sunday’s Face the Nation, host Bob Schieffer scolded Republican Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn when she correctly asserted “there is only partisan support” for ObamaCare. Schieffer cut her off: “Well now Congresswoman, that’s not entirely true. The polls don’t suggest that. Polls say that most people favor it.”

In fact, more have disapproved than approved of ObamaCare since it was passed, as confirmed in a new CBS News/New York Times survey released Wednesday night, September 25:

Opinions of the health care law overall continue to be negative. With health insurance exchanges set to open up for enrollment on Oct. 1, 39 percent of Americans now approve of the health care law, but more – 51 percent – disapprove, similar to views in July. Since the law was enacted in 2010, more have disapproved than approved of it.

Maybe Schieffer would have been aware of that if the CBS Evening News or CBS This Morning bothered to report that finding – but they didn’t.

(Republicans disapprove by 82 to 12 percent, independents by a pretty wide 53 to 34 percent. At 26 percent disapproval, twice a many Democrats disapprove as the 12 percent of Republican respondents who approve.)
