Chris Matthews Calls Mitch McConnell an SOB

Can you imagine the firestorm that would happen if a conservative talker called President Obama an “SOB?”

On Wednesday’s Hardball, host Chris Matthews called Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) that (video follows with transcript and commentary):

CHRIS MATTHEWS: I don’t know why it is, because I’m not always partisan. But I really do have a problem with Mitch McConnell. I would like to see him get stung hard on this one. So, why do I think like that?

(LAUGHTER) (CROSSTALK)

MATTHEWS: Because he tends to be an SOB generally? Does anybody like that guy?

It's pretty funny when a guy that said after Election Day 2008 that it was his job to make Obama's presidency a success has the gall to claim "I'm not always partisan."

Makes you wonder if he actually pays any attention to what he says.

As for his current comment, exactly how can someone on a so-called cable news outlet get away with calling an elected official not mired in some kind of scandal an SOB?

Doesn't this cross some journalistic line, or does that just clearly not exist anymore?
