Chris Matthews Gives His Audience Capitol Switchboard Number to 'Get a Hold of Your Senator' for Gun Control

March 22nd, 2013 1:01 PM

Chris Matthews’ liberal activism reached new heights on March 21 surrounding his push for greater gun control legislation.  Speaking during the opening segment for Hardball, Matthews provided his audience with email addresses and phone numbers to members of Congress, telling them that:

For all those who care about gun safety, let me repeat what I said last night, get a hold of your Senator and Member of Congress and say you want a real background check on people who buy guns.  [See video after jump.]

Matthews then told his audience exactly how to contact his or her Member of Congress, providing them with a graphic with phone numbers and email addresses:

You can get a hold of your Senator, by calling as I said last night 202-224-3121. If you don't know your senator or Member of Congress, fine, you just go to www.house.gov and enter your zip code to find out who your Congressman is. And www.Senate.Gov to find your Senator. You can then click on his or her name when it pops up. It will take you to the member’s website with all their contact information. That’s how you do it.

Does Chris think his audience is too brain dead to figure out how to navigate a simple website?

Matthews’ gun-control advocacy didn’t stop there, with the liberal host going further telling them not to give up hope if they don’t get in contact with their representative immediately:

If the switchboards at the Senator’s lines are jammed, wait a few minutes and try again. It means that we're working out there, this thing is working. It's a good sign of the impact you're having.

Again, Chris presumes that his audience members are lazy as well as stupid.

Matthews has been leading the MSNBC gun control charge ever since the tragedy at Newtown.  He recently told his liberal audience that people need to support gun control or an “American President could be murdered.”  Matthews has also called pro-gun conservatives “segregationists” and also says he’d love to see gun shows abolished, protesting that there's no need for a gun show when folks can just go to a gun store to buy their weapons.  Perhaps he thinks flea markets and yard sales should be banned too? After all, why do you need those when you can buy books at a bookstore?

Matthews’ outright liberal activism is no new thing, as he once stated that his job was to “make Obama presidency a success.”  By telling his audience how to contact their representative to push for greater gun control, Matthews truly will do anything to make Obama’s presidency a “success.”

Hardball w/ Chris Matthews

CHRIS MATTHEWS: Good evening. I'm Chris Matthews in Washington. And let me start tonight with this. The shooting has begun at the ok corral. You want to stop the sale of assault weapons in this country. Go for it. Joe Biden says there’s still a chance. Good for him. It’s always a solid move to get out there and keep up the cheering. But the news from the battle right now is that it's really down to background checks, which I hear could go either way. We might end up even with the horror of Newtown with nothing more than something about trafficking, secondhand purchases, but for all those who care about gun safety, let me repeat what I said last night, get ahold of your Senator and Member of Congress and say you want a real background check on people who buy guns. You can get ahold of your Senator, by calling as I said last night 202-224-3121. And look, if the switchboards at the Senator’s lines are jammed, wait a few minutes and try again. It means that we're working out there, this thing is working. It's a good sign of the impact you're having.
