Joe Biden is making a guest appearance in next week's installment of NBC's sitcom Parks and Recreation.

The Vice President's cameo occurs at the beginning of the episode when former Congressional campaign manager Ben Wyatt played by Adam Scott takes his fiancée Leslie Knope played by Amy Poehler to the White House to meet her longtime crush (video follows with commentary).

The far more interesting part of this story was reported by the New York Times Wednesday.

Although the scene was filmed in July, it had to be kept a secret. The show was warned that if any news of this leaked out before Election Day, they might have been forced to give a similar cameo to the Republican vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan.

Wouldn't that have been awful for them?

“It was all very byzantine and complicated,” executive producer Michael Schur told the Times. “There seem to be all kinds of specific rules, which I never fully understood. But we decided to err on the side of caution.”

Apparently, Biden has been part of a running gag on the show. Poehler's character is a hard-core Democrat that idolizes Biden.

“Our first joke way back had Leslie telling her friend Ann that her ideal man would have the brain of George Clooney and the body of Joe Biden,” Schur told the Times. “For whatever reason, she has an irresistible attraction to the vice president in a movie-star kind of way.”

According to Entertainment Weekly, in another episode from last season, Poehler said, "Joe Biden is on my celebrity sex list — well, he is my celebrity sex list."

Isn't that sweet?
