Weekend Open Thread

February 4th, 2012 11:16 AM

There sure are a lot of things to talk about this weekend. Here are a few ideas:

  • Exactly how did Mitt Romney turn what should have been a post-Florida primary victory lap into a bad week? Regardless of your support for him, does his tendency to shoot himself in the foot concern you? This should have been his best campaign week to date. Instead, he probably lost momentum. How does someone snatch defeat from the jaws of victory this way?
  • The headline figures in yesterday's unemployment report were quite good. But buried inside were continued concerns about the labor participation rate and people leaving the labor force. Net-net do you see this as a positive report, negative, or neutral? Do you see the economy at this point having turned the corner, or is there a lot of trouble on the horizon? Are things good enough to help Obama in November, or is it too soon to tell?
  • Did Komen cave to the media pressure or did they rethink their Planned Parenthood decision for other reasons?
