Wash Post's Bump: My Doctor Trumps Hillary's Doctor in Assessing Her Health

A mini-war broke out yesterday between the Washington Post's Philip Bump, who would apparently prefer to keep discussions of Hillary Clinton's health off the table, and Matt Drudge. As would be expected, Drudge won in a rout, while Bump continues to pretend that he didn't.

Bump, in his disingenuous Friday morning entry at the Post's all too appropriately named "The Fix" blog, told readers that his own doctor's opinion concerning Mrs. Clinton's health should trump Drudge's. Bump should have known better — maybe he did, and didn't care, rolling the dice on Drudge ignoring him. The issue isn't Bump's doctor, who has never examined Mrs. Clinton, versus Drudge. It's Bump's doctor versus a media-published statement made by Mrs. Clinton's own doctor.

WashPost Hypes 'Tea Party-Like Faction' of Faithful Catholic Bishops

On Thursday, the Washington Post's Anthony Faiola spun the latest synod of Catholic bishops at the Vatican as a "theological slugfest" between two main factions of the Catholic hierarchy: the "liberal"/"progressive" backers of "Pope Francis's vision for a more inclusive church," versus a "backlash" from "conservatives/"traditionalists." Faiola even hyped how some unnamed "moderate conservatives" at the meeting were "shocked" by the "vehemence of the backlash," which supposedly pointed to a "rise of a Tea Party-like faction of bishops within the hierarchy."

Imagine a Washington Post blogger writing that in his recent endorsement of Hillary Clinton, HUD Secretary Julian Castro could “hardly be more solicitious of Hillary without offering to mow her lawn.” Would that get past an editor without being flagged as at least racially insensitive? A landscaper joke? 

But that’s exactly how Jennifer Rubin started her latest screed against Ted Cruz:  “Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.), without offering to mow his lawn, could hardly be more solicitous of Donald Trump.” Raising a flag of insensitivity should be twice as easy for references to Donald Trump, regarded in liberal newsrooms as a flagrant exploiter of racist voters.

NPR Fresh Air host Terry Gross is a very passionate advocate of the “LGBT” agenda, and it came through again with a 37-minute interview promoting Washington Post reporter Amy Ellis Nutt and her book on  transgender female “Nicole” Maines. The title is Becoming Nicole: The Transformation of an American Family.

Nutt strongly pushed that the Maines family were wonderfully warm and thoughtful people – besieged at times by hateful people who cause bathroom wars:

Washington Post columnist Petula Dvorak happily updated her three-year-old “Transgender at 5" front-page story, three years later. The headline was “Transgender at 8: Tyler remains certain he’s a boy as the world changes around him.”

Dvorak said when she first touted “Tyler,” it “was before Caitlyn Jenner landed on the cover of Vanity Fair. Before Laverne Cox became a star for her portrayal of a transgender inmate on Orange Is the New Black. Before the White House hired an openly transgender staffer.”

On MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell Reports on Tuesday, Washington Post reporter Karen Tumulty proclaimed that House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s comments about the Benghazi investigation had granted Hillary Clinton immunity from scandal: “...the Kevin McCarthy thing has been not only a political gift but it has been sort of a ‘get out of jail free’ card for her to sort of abandon the kind of semi-contrite position she had been taking before, and to come out on offense.”

Yes, to its horror the Post has once again discovered that life isn’t fair. It seems participation in youth sports is down and writer Michael S. Rosenwald knows the culprit: parents. Specifically, parents “in the suburbs, where the shift to elite competition over the past two decades has taken a growing toll: Children are playing fewer sports, and the less talented are left behind in recreational leagues with poor coaching, uneven play and the message that they aren’t good enough.”

Manassas, Virginia Abortion Clinic Closes; WashPost Hasn't Noticed

Pro-life activists around my home near Manassas, Virginia are celebrating that the town’s abortion clinic, Amethyst Health Center for Women, has closed. I wondered if this news had been located by The Washington Post, with wailing and gnashing of teeth. I hadn’t seen it on my own. A Nexis search confirms there’s been no discovery.

According to local Fox station WTTG, Amethyst is closing because the owner has decided to retire. The 76-year-old widow wanted to remain anonymous but told Fox her reason for shutting down. She said, “When you are in this line of work, you know, I have fought a battle for 27 years. And I did it with love in my heart to help the women. But comes a time in life that you retire.”
