ABC officially announced on Thursday that liberal actress Rosie Perez will join liberal comedienne Rosie O'Donnell and Sarah Palin-Basher Nicolle Wallace as the three new hosts of The View. The female-oriented chat show will now have no conservative voice for its 18th season, debuting in September.

In 2012, Perez campaigned for Barack Obama and starred in an ad bashing Mitt Romney. In the spot, she sneered, "Unfortunately for you, Mitt, you were cursed with the hard-knock life of growing as up the son of a wealthy governor and auto executive." The actress also appeared on Al Sharpton's MSNBC show in December of 2012. She fawned over the Democratic activist, enthusing, "It's an honor. I've been a fan of yours and respect you immensely." During Monday's edition of The View, Sherri Shepherd -- who had served as a co-host on the ABC weekday program for seven years -- gave an emotional farewell in which she declared she is “so thankful for the group of friends and family that I have made and that have supported me” throughout her tenure.

Shepherd also acknowledged the criticism she'd received over the years from Fox News Channel's Bill O'Reilly, Bill Maher, host of the Real Time program on HBO, and another talk show host who said "she could be replaced with a potato sack.” [See video below.]

After reiterating her support for 9/11 conspiracy theories over the weekend, Rosie O'Donnell insisted she could work with a possible new co-host, despite ties to George W. Bush. Many 9/11 truthers smear the ex-president as having either orchestrated, or failed to stop, the September 11th, 2001 terrorist attacks.

When asked if she could be civil with Nicolle Wallace, the former communications chief for Bush and a rumored new co-host, O'Donnell responded via Twitter, "i enjoy nicole - am reading her book right now - and i do not know who is to blame [for 9/11]." [See screen shots of tweets below.] The liberal host also offered her opinion on whether the moon landing was a hoax.

Rosie O’Donnell, the past and future co-host of The View, on Friday reaffirmed her support of the 9/11 truther conspiracy theory. When asked by this writer if she continues to reject the idea that Muslim terrorists flew planes into buildings, O’Donnell tweeted in response, “i still do not believe the official story.” [See below for a screen shot of the tweet.]

O’Donnell left The View in 2007 after battling with conservative Elisabeth Hasselbeck. On March 29, 2007, she promoted trutherism, saying of September 11th: “I do believe it is the first time in history that fire has ever melted steel. I do believe that it defies physics for the World Trade Center Tower Seven, building seven, which collapsed in on itself, it is impossible for a building to fall the way it fell without explosives being involved…” ABC invited O'Donnell to return as a View co-host for the fall 2014 season.

According to speculation by the Daily Mail on Friday, Nicolle Wallace, a liberal Republican who worked on John McCain's 2008 campaign and famously feuded with Sarah Palin, has been selected to fill the "conservative" seat on ABC's The View. The rumor comes a day after the producer of the left-wing Rachel Maddow Show was hired to run the ABC chat show.

Daily Mail writer Topper Toussaint claimed, "Commentator S.E. Cupp was also considered, but clashed with Rosie [O'Donnell]." He added, "'Rosie told her that her approach was just like Elisabeth Hasselbeck, which did not sit well,' according to the show insider." If the reports are true, Wallace will hardly be a conservative counterweight to the very liberal O'Donnell.

On August 6 the ladies of The View tackled the perpetually thorny hot topic of religion in the public square and moderator Whoopi Goldberg let slip her vehement disgust with religious Americans, but particularly it seems Christians, who pray in public over their food.

The discussion centered on a news item out of Georgia where a group of power-walkers were told by mall security that they were not allowed to bow their heads in group prayer, and “even saying grace at the food court wasn’t allowed.” The discussion quickly devolved into an argument between the two outspoken atheist at the table Whoopi Goldberg and guest host S.E. Cupp, complete with Goldberg clapping her hands in Cupp’s face and asking “Did you hear what I said?!” [See video below]

View co-host Whoopi Goldberg on Tuesday fought back against liberal outrage in the wake of her comments on bad teachers and tenure. On Monday, the co-host insisted that bad teachers should lose their job, declaring, "You teachers in your unions, you need to say, 'these bad teachers are making us look bad. We don't want it!"...And it has nothing to do with being a liberal or a Democrat. It has to do with being an American."

On Tuesday, the comedienne responded to attacks on Twitter and doubled down: "We were not talking about good teachers who do a great job. We were talking about getting rid of teachers who don't do a good job."  She lectured, "My mother was a teacher. So, this is not about bashing teachers and I don't appreciate you misquoting what we said." [See video below. MP3 audio here.]

Something really remarkable happened on Tuesday’s edition of The View. Three out of the four panelists actually came out strongly in favor of a woman’s right to protect herself and her children with a gun! The one panelist who didn’t want a gun in the house? ABC Good Morning America co-host Lara Spencer. The three who favored firearm ownership (Sherri Shepherd, Jenny McCarthy and FNC’s Juliet Huddy) all shared the real world threats that prompted them to go get a gun.

The segment began with The View airing a new ad from the gun control group Everytown for Gun Safety but instead of sparking the expected rant against guns from the usually liberal View crew, something very different happened. (video after the jump)

Possible new View co-host S.E. Cupp got a tryout on Monday for the token conservative slot on the morning program. Wasting no time, the conservative commentator got in a fight with Whoopi Goldberg over the New York Times's endorsement of federally legalized marijuana. After Goldberg described herself as "very, very, very happy" with the Times, Cupp shot back, "Luckily, it is not up to the New York Times, a New York City liberal paper, to decide what everyone around the country does." [See video below. MP3 audio here.]

Overriding her possible future co-host, Cupp continued, "It's a much better idea for the states to be laboratories of democracy and decide 'we are a state that wants to legalize this. Our neighbors disagree and they're allowed to do that.'" Deriding the editorial, she added, "The New York Times would very much like the rest of the country to get with the Times and get cool and get hip to this thing that is changing."

Appearing as a guest on ABC's The View on Monday, CNN Crossfire co-host S.E. Cupp – who is reportedly in talks to join the daytime talk show – told the hosts it was justified for CNN correspondent Diana Magnay and NBC correspondent Ayman Mohyeldin to be removed from reporting in the Gaza Strip after both expressed Anti-Israel bias. [Listen to the audio or watch the video after the jump

After Cupp noted the social media comments made by Magnay and Mohyeldin, she observed: "Look, you're a reporter and your job, no matter how passionate you are about this issue, everyone has strong feelings, your job is to be objective." Co-host Jenny McCarthy asked: "So do you think it's okay for them to lose their job?" Cupp replied: "You know, discipline was necessary. Yeah, it was."

The July 11 edition of ABC’s The View began with a discussion on a Kentucky bank teller fired from her job for violating the “high ethical standards” of US Bank. Her transgressions apparently were wishing patrons to “have a blessed day” after her interactions with them and, on at least one occasion, chastising a customer for taking the Lord’s name in vain.

While co-host Sherri Shepherd, a professing Christian, spoke to the discretion needed when Christians “are commanded to go out and tell the good news,” to others, guest panelist Sunny Hostin of CNN strangely brought up the “history, in our society” of people hiding “behind religion to do some really terrible things to other people.” [See video below. Want to be nominated for an Emmy? Just get Barack Obama on your show. The internet show Between Two Ferns was honored on Thursday for the category "Outstanding Short-Format." The six and a half minute episode featured the President joking with host/actor Zach Galifianakis as he promoted ObamaCare. According to the Washington Post, it would be the third award connected to the President.

Post writer Veronica Toney explained, "President Obama has already won two Grammy Awards for best spoken word album for 2008's 'The Audacity of Hope”  and 2006's 'Dreams from My Father.'” In March, the networks swooned over Obama's appearance with Galifianakis.
