It appears that no matter what disgusting things Bill Maher says about conservatives - especially conservative women! - HBO is going to continue to reward him.
On Wednesday, the cable network announced that it was renewing Real Time with Bill Maher for a 13th season (press release via TV By The Numbers):
Since the left-wing nonsense coming out of Hollywood can be just as obnoxious as anything you’d find on MSNBC, the MRC’s “Best Notable Quotables of 2013” once again includes our annual Barbra Streisand Political IQ Award for Celebrity Vapidity.
Past winners of this prestigious prize include: actress Jessica Lange in 2002 (“I despise him [George W. Bush]. I despise his administration and everything they stand for.”); The View’s Rosie O'Donnell in 2007 (“I just want to say something: 655,000 Iraqi civilians are dead. Who are the terrorists?”); and actor/director Rob Reiner in 2010 (“My fear is that the Tea Party gets a charismatic leader, because all they’re selling is fear and anger and that’s all Hitler sold.”)

As NewsBusters previously reported, HBO's Real Time this past Friday once again featured some truly disgusting attacks on the Pope, priests, and the Catholic Church. This has led the Catholic League to formally request HBO and Time Warner fire host Bill Maher and cancel the show.
On Tuesday, after Newsmax TV's Steve Malzberg played a clip of Maher and guest Dan Savage from Friday's program to Catholic League president Bill Donohue, Donohue responded (video follows with transcript and commentary):

You would think given all the heat MSNBC’s Martin Bashir is taking for his vile comments about Sarah Palin earlier this month, comedians might want to lay low for a while in attacking the former Alaska governor.

Has Barack Obama lost Bill Maher?
On HBO’s Real Time Friday, the Obama campaign donor’s opening monologue skewered the disastrous rollout of the President’s signature legislative accomplishment including a joke about Wilt Chamberlain having had sex with more people than enrolled at Healthcare.gov (video follows with transcript and commentary):

On the most recent installment of Real Time, the host did a lengthy segment accusing religious conservatives of being hypocrites saying, “There's always a good, moral, Christian reason to tell everyone you meet to f--k off and die” (video follows with transcript and commentary):
It really is hysterical listening to liberal Hollywoodans talk about politics.
Take for example actor/director Rob Reiner - made famous by his role as Meathead in the legendary sitcom All in the Family - claiming on HBO's Real Time Friday ("Overtime" web segment) that Barack Obama politically "is right around where Reagan was" (video follows with transcript and commentary):
On Bill Maher's HBO show Friday night, Democratic National Committe Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz insisted that President Obama's promise to the American people made over 20 times during a span of over two years, namely "If you like your health care plan, you can keep your health care plan," was not a lie.
Maher, appeared to warm to the idea that it was a lie, but at crunch time decided that it was something, like Bush 41's "no new taxes" pledge, that "did not hold up to the realities of governing," representing "a moral complexity I'm okay with 'cause I'm not twelve." Far-far lefty Rob Reiner also felt it necessary to criticize Republicans "who are refusing to make this better." Maher, though he didn't seem to like it, finally concluded that Obama, who in his mind previously had an "almost sterling reputation for honesty," now faces the reality that "to a certain extent that ship (of his credibility) has sailed." Bill Maher on Tuesday made what people on both sides of the aisle will say is an extraordinary prediction coming from a Tea Party hater like him.
