Two victories this week for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, one seismic, the other minor though not insignificant. First, he won a solid re-election victory that affirmed his dire warning of the peril from a nuclear-armed Iran. Secondly, he persuaded an influential American liberal that his campaign warning that Israel's Arab citizens might swing the election against him was not a despicable, race-baiting tactic as alleged by other liberals.
Netanyahu may never learn of this second vote of approval from liberal comedian Bill Maher, but it remains worth savoring for conservatives here in the U.S.
Real Time

Bill Maher, host of HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher, held a discussion on Friday’s show about Republicans “trying to interfere” with Obama’s negotiations with Iran via an open letter. Of course, Maher didn’t mention that there are 12 Democrats supporting a tough stance on Iran in addition to the 47 Republican senators that signed the letter.
Maher’s panelists were Arianna Huffington, Tom Rogan of National Review, and former CBS investigative reporter Sharyl Attkisson. But the toast of the studio was leftist actor Sean Penn, who Maher showered with praise for his international charity work. As always, Penn had some rather incendiary comments to say on matters that pertain to countries run by dictatorship or communist rule, charging those 47 Republicans who signed the letter of “criminal mutiny.”

Heck, who cares if the "neighbors" in question have a knife to your throat.
Bill Nye, foppish self-proclaimed Science Guy, appeared on Real Time with Bill Maher this past Friday night and demonstrated why he ought to stick with his true vocation as a global-warming bedwetter.

The host of HBO's Real Time With Bill Maher covered a wide range of topics on his Friday night program, ranging from declaring that the U.S. is not morally equivalent to the Islamic State of Iran and Syria to joking about NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams “not having a good week.”
Most of the discussion about war and its consequences took place during the “Overtime” segment of the show, which airs online after the regular hour-long program has gone off the air.

Those awkward silences from your audience, Bill Maher? That's them saying they aren't amused. You might want to pay more attention to what they're telling you.
First time it happened on Maher's HBO show last night came when he was speaking with The Atlantic's James Fallows about his cover story in the January-February issue, "Why Do the Best Soldiers in the World Keep Losing? The Tragic Decline of the American Military."
Last week, the Media Research Center announced the winners and top runners-up for “Best Notable Quotables of 2014,” and NewsBusters is reviewing the list as a way to reflect on the worst media bias of the year. Today’s category: the Obama’s Orderlies Award for Championing ObamaCare.
In the liberal bastion that is Hollywood, you would think that vapid celebrities could rattle off empty left-wing political jargon with ease. Not in all cases. Liberal talk show host Bill Maher asked a Hollywood actress a question about one of the left’s pet talking points, and was met with utter confusion.

On Friday night, HBO’s Bill Maher resoundingly mocked the Democratic Party’s electoral defeat during this year’s midterm election but made sure to attack the Republican Party as being motivated by race. During a panel discussion on Real Time w/ Bill Maher, Maher proclaimed that “the issue in this election was still the first black president. I really do. I think it was still resentment about his winning re-election and it was just those people who came out to vote, wanted to prove to the rest of America that they were right all along about how much Obama sucks.”

HBO Real Time host Bill Maher, a self-proclaimed atheist, is often viewed as controversial among conservatives. Recently, however, it’s not conservatives who are up in arms over Maher’s latest comments. Instead, it's one of the most liberal colleges in the country – the University of California, Berkeley.
Maher is expected to speak at a graduation ceremony at Berkeley in December. It is this speaking engagement that has many students protesting Maher’s planned speech because of his “racist and bigoted” views on the Muslim faith.

Given the host's well-known loathing of Republicans, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi probably thought she was on friendly turf during her weekend appearance on HBO's "Real Time with Bill Maher."
What she clearly had not anticipated was that she was dealing with a comedian who's as much loose cannon as he is left winger.

During an interview with Joel Keller that was posted Tuesday on the Parade magazine website, “libertarian” comedian Bill Maher hammered the liberal MSNBC cable channel for having “just way too much conformity” and a mantra of “never say anything that will upset our own audience.”
“I’m usually in agreement with what they say over there,” the host of the Friday evening Real Time with Bill Maher HBO series stated. “But I do think there is just too much cheering for your own team, sometimes without being very informed about the issue itself.”

Bill Maher is known for his pathological, frothing attacks on all things conservative. However, on the August 1 edition of Real Time With Bill Maher, the HBO host took a controversial stance for a liberal: he defended Israel. When his Iranian-American guest Reza Aslan argued that “Amnesty International...have found no evidence whatsoever of any kind of human shield being used,” Maher interrupted to state “It's a war. It's a war that Hamas started.”
The left-wing comedian continued, claiming that “somehow when Israel reacts to this, they have to do everything in a way that doesn't kill any civilians. People die in wars.” Maher repeated his sentiment from July 20, that “if the situation was reversed, Hamas would kill every single person in Israel. The reason that's not happening is because they can't. Because they can't doesn't make them good, it makes them weak.” [See video below. Click here for MP3 audio]
