In the endearing but largely forgotten film "Heaven Can Wait", Los Angeles Rams quarterback Joe Pendleton is killed in an accident and sent to the afterlife, prematurely as it turns out due to a snafu by the celestial powers that be. They can't return him to his previous life, since Pendleton has been cremated, so he is sent back to the body of a wealthy industrialist who's been murdered by his wife and her lover.

Pendleton, now living as corporate titan Leo Farnsworth, is anxious to return to the Rams. He realizes that his best shot at getting back on the team is to buy it outright. After he manages to do so, the embittered owner of the Rams is shown with one of his friends. (Video after the jump)

In a bravura display of rhetorical contortion, Rachel Maddow spent 10 minutes last night talking about net metering without actually uttering the words themselves -- all the better to prevent her gullible viewers from taking a closer look at this problematic policy.

As mandated in 43 states and the District of Columbia, net metering allows small-scale generators of electricity, such as those with solar panels on their roofs, to sell excess electricity back to power companies. Utilities don't like it because most states require power companies to buy this electricity at retail prices, rather than the far lower wholesale cost. (Video after the jump)

No wonder so many people, especially young Americans, get their news from Jon Stewart on "The Daily Show." They've learned from long experience that they can't get it from places such as "The Rachel Maddow Show" on MSNBC that proudly and repeatedly tout themselves as "news" shows.

While attempting to show how balanced she is, Maddow on March 27 responded on a flurry of Democrat scandals so numerous that even MSNBC could not ignore them. But predictably for Maddow, she soft-pedaled what was arguably the most serious of the bunch -- the alleged attempt by California state senator Leland Yee to obtain shoulder-fired missiles and other heavy weaponry from Filipino jihadists in exchange for campaign cash. MSNBC's Rachel Maddow launched a crusade on Wednesday night against a Michigan measure that would prevent the public from having to cover abortion in insurance plans. Maddow joined state Democrats and called the bill the "rape insurance" bill.

"Your insurance cannot even cover you getting an abortion if you got pregnant because you were raped. That's why the law's opponents are calling it the 'rape insurance' bill," Maddow reported. "I continue to maintain that over the last few years, Michigan state government has become way more insane than anyone nationally gives them credit for."
