Following Monday’s severe blizzard that pummeled the Northeast, on Tuesday morning, CNN’s New Day hosted liberal New York City Mayor Bill DeBlasio to discuss the city’s handling of the snowstorm. After DeBlasio briefly spoke with CNN’s Chris Cuomo, brother of New York’s Democratic Governor Andrew Cuomo, New Day co-host Alisyn Camerota greeted DeBlasio with a friendly kiss and embrace before offering DeBlasio some homemade hot chocolate.

Ahmed Shihab-Eldin attacked Fox News and others on Monday's @ This Hour on CNN for placing "an unfair burden on Islam," particularly in the wake of Islamist terrorist attacks. Shihab-Eldin asserted that those calling on Muslims to condemn terrorism are "not aware of Google; or not paying attention; or perhaps, watching too much Fox News, where hosts constantly are...driving this point home – this us versus them...this point home that Muslims aren't speaking out....I think it's regrettable, and I think, arguably, bigoted."

The list of unhinged statements and rants coming from left-leaning journalists in the wake of the Charlie Hebdo massacre in Paris is getting miles long.
Among them all, one especially sticks out. In one of the earliest retreats to twisted, gutless characterizations of the Charlie Hebdo terrorists, CNN's Christiane Amanpour, who is also ABC's global affairs anchor, called them "activists." Greg Gutfeld of Fox News commented on Amanpour's annihilation of the English langauge and went after the "fear of (right-wing) backlash" mindset on Friday.

CNN's Jim Clancy has been with the network for 32 years. His network's bio says that he "brings the experience of more than three decades covering the world to every newscast on CNN International." He also apparently has a lot of pent-up feelings about the Middle East.
Those feelings boiled to the top over Twitter early Thursday. Clancy started it all by claiming that the cartoons published by journalists who were killed in the Charlie Hebdo massacre on Wednesday "NEVER mocked the Prophet. They mocked how the COWARDS tried to distort his word. Pay attention." It went downhill from there, both factually and professionally.

CNN's Chris Cuomo made a "colorful" gaffe on Friday's @ This Hour, as he reported live from Paris, France. Minutes after police stormed both sites where Islamists had barricaded themselves, Cuomo labeled one of the dead French terrorists "African-American." Anderson Cooper quickly corrected his colleague: "Not American – the man of African descent." Cuomo replied, "Right – African descent. Thank you. Sorry, Anderson."

On Monday afternoon, CNN’s Wolf covered the controversy surrounding President Obama’s playing of golf on a Hawaii golf course that forced an Army couple about to be married there to move their wedding during which CNN’s Chris Moody called the optics of the move “hilariously bad.”
Following a panel discussion on the 2016 presidential campaign, substitute host Brianna Keilar introduced the topic and after some background on what happened, Keilar and Time’s Zeke Miller did their best to defend the President and the White House, pointing out that there was “no way that the President” or the White House knew of this decision beforehand by the golf course.

As I noted almost two weeks ago, hundreds of protesters in Manhattan repeatedly shouted "What do we want? Dead Cops! When do we want it? Now!" during that city's version of the so-called "Justice For All" marches which took place in several locations around the nation on December 13.
The New York Times failed to report the protesters' rants in its original coverage of the marches. The fact that it finally did so in the 23rd paragraph of a separate story found on Page A18 of its print edition the following day hardly makes up for the paper's original omission. The establishment press in general has largely failed to recognize the existence of the "dead cops" chants — which likely explains why Harlem Congressman Charles Rangel was completely ignorant of them when CNN's Ashleigh Banfield interviewed him on Monday.

On Wednesday, David Gergen ranked a supposed foreign policy accomplishment of President Obama higher than the killing of Osama bin Laden during CNN's special coverage of the Democrat's "historic..decision to restore full diplomatic relations with Cuba." Gergen contended that "ultimately, he's going to be judged very favorably by history...on climate change. It probably is the most significant thing he's done – the breakthrough he had with China – and if he can get the world to a better agreement, that's going to go down as a major legacy."

President George W. Bush sat down with CNN’s Candy Crowley for an interview that aired on Sunday’s State of the Union to promote his recent book profiling his father entitled 41: A Portrait of My Father. During the discussion, Crowley asked Bush about a recent New York Times review that suggested the book was the younger Bush’s attempt at ridding himself of any “baggage” that existed between him and George H.W. Bush. For his part, the younger Bush dismissed the Times for pushing “typical psychobabble of somebody who has no clue what he's talking about.”

On Monday's At This Hour, CNN's Brian Stelter brushed aside a regular conservative critique about the media – that the press has a double standard about covering controversial remarks from Republican/conservative officials, while ignoring similar comments from Democrats/liberals. Stelter, replying to a Republican flack's attack on the news coverage of GOP staffer Elizabeth Lauten's critique of the Obama daughters, asserted that "this was about a slow news cycle. There was...a void of stuff to talk about over the weekend....So, I think that has a lot to do with it."

Candy Crowley on what Rush Limbaugh would label the state run CNN show of State of the Union seemed to place her blind trust in the assurances of state affiliated medical personnel that a travel ban on the Ebola Hot Zone nations of West Africa was both unnecessary as well as harmful. It took guest Senator Ted Cruz to make it clear to Crowley just why such a ban was absolutely necessary.

On Tuesday, Turner Broadcasting, the parent company of CNN, started the process of cancelling several of the news network's series, including the reboot of Crossfire, and began laying off hundreds of employees. Chris Ariens at the TVNewser blog reported that "as many as 300, or 8%, of CNN's workforce is being cut." Ariens later noted that "Jane Velez Mitchell's nightly HLN show has been canceled, part of deep cuts at CNN."
