Almost every edition of MSNBC’s Hardball offers a spit-take moment courtesy of host Chris Matthews, but it instead was a guest on Tuesday as openly gay former Democratic Congressman Barney Frank (Mass.) smeared late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia by quipping that on the issue of flag burnings, Scalia wasn’t really supportive that right as much as he was for “fag burning.”

MSNBC’s Chris Matthews went of the metaphorical high speed rails during Hardball Monday night, as he announced a ridiculous plan to fund high speed rail. “We've got about $30 trillion sitting overseas, because of the tax laws of this country, the corporate tax rates and things like that,” he explained, “You say, ‘Why don't we find a way to grab all of that, in fact, and put it into development of a public/private thing.’” And it only got more ludicrous from there.

Ultra-liberal Hollywood actor, director, and writer Rob Reiner was at it again on MSNBC’s Hardball Thursday night blasting President-elect Donald Trump as anti-Semitic and when challenged by host Chris Matthews, he went further into the gutter by comparing Trump to “the Jewish police at the Warsaw Ghetto” that said “okay, you know, march through Germany” to the Nazis.

Not that head-scratching moments on MSNBC’s Hardball aren’t rare or anything, but Tuesday’s installment featured another cringe-inducing split-second by host Chris Matthews as he admitted to The Washington Post’s Jennifer Rubin and Huffington Post’s Howard Fineman that President-elect Donald Trump’s anti-war stances in the primary had been “tickling my erogenous zones.”

MSNBC’s Chris Matthews ended his ranting and raving on Monday’s Hardball with a segment he dubbed “Trump Watch,” where he warned President-Elect Donald Trump that he’s making people “sad.” “I can feel much of the country’s mood right now,” he announced to his viewers, “And tonight, I worry about the talk that John Bolton may be Trump's choice for secretary of state.”

As liberals began to pick up the pieces on Wednesday after Donald Trump was elected the next president of the United States, MSNBC host Chris Matthews provided a succinct embodiment of a liberal’s range of emotions over the course of a special two-hour Hardball from fear to downright strange behavior.

According to MSNBC’s Chris Matthews on Monday’s Hardball, the election is already over and Hillary Clinton is the winner. And knowing that going to the polls on Election Day how can a woman possibly vote for Donald Trump and not be a part of making history, he wondered to his all liberal panel. Matthew’s argument sounded more like he was talking down to and trying shame women into vote for Hillary Clinton.

Roughly 24 hours after the first pitch of the now-epic game seven of the World Series that was later won by the Chicago Cubs, MSNBC’s Hardball host Chris Matthews dedicated on Thursday his closing “Election Diary” to comparing Hillary Clinton to the Cubs in that while Donald Trump has closed in on her in the polls, she will still win the presidency on Tuesday.

MSNBC’s Hardball host Chris Matthews made his feelings clear on Tuesday night about the latest revelations in the Hillary Clinton e-mail scandal as he expressed his hopes that they just turn out to be pleas by Huma Abedin, Anthony Weiner or even Hillary Clinton to “remember to pick up bread on the way home.”

Joe Biden appeared on MSNBC's Hardball on Tuesday, and claimed that "You never heard me criticize the tea party." Millions of people with decent memories and the ability to hear know that this is not true. Those with longer memories know that Biden's strident criticisms of the Tea Party movement, its members and its political candidates and officeholders go back over six years.

Occasionally, MSNBC’s Hardball host Chris Matthews flashes a pillar of his Catholic upbringing and Monday night was one such instance as he pressed New York Times reporter Yamiche Alcindor on whether or not she has any pro-life co-workers at the liberal paper after she laughed at the idea of liberal media bias.

In the October 24 edition of Notable Quotables: CNN host Brian Stelter reports on a North Carolina Republican headquarters being firebombed and wonders if Donald Trump is to blame. NBC News’s Kristen Welker claims the media would be spending more time on Hillary Clinton’s scandals but Trump’s “unforced errors” keep getting in the way. Also in this issue Chris Matthews is transfixed by Hillary Clinton’s “beautiful voice.” And pop singer Madonna makes an offer to voters that Bill Clinton would appreciate.
