Daily Kos founder and publisher Markos Moulitsas is exultant that we are “finally moving on” from the embargo “despite the wailing and teeth gnashing of the [Marco] Rubios and [Bob] Menendezes of the world, and the new generation of Cuban Americans is leading the way.”

This past Thanksgiving weekend, with all the stories going on in the country today, one seems to have topped the list: an unknown GOP staffer decided to voice her opinion about the Obama daughters after they were pictured during the White House turkey pardon ceremony…on her Facebook page. Yep. That’s the story. Criticizing the daughters for their short skirts and glum facial expressions is....a firing offense?

"So yes, we got spanked," wrote Daily Kos founder Markos Moulitsas. He bitterly claimed that many Latinos and Asians sat out the elections to punish Obama for wimping out on an executive order forcing immigration reform.

A blogger tells DKos readers that even if they’re disappointed that Democrats aren’t farther to the left, it’s vital for them to vote in the midterms against racist ultra-right-wing GOPers.

A blogger says it seems that people “genuinely don't care what happens to this country or, for that matter, their own world anymore” and, therefore, vote for Republicans.

A blogger says the organization is just a bunch of ‘proto-survivalist’ hard-right loonies that won’t lift a finger for Democrats even if they vote its way.

A blogger declared that as many as 17,000 Americans per year needlessly die because of what “might be the greatest act of political spite in modern American history.” The good news, he added, is that the “GOPer virus” can be killed at the polls.

A symposium addressing the question “Where Is Liberalism Going?” produced what several online pundits considered nutty and ignorant ideas about topics including sex and the supposedly growing authoritarian tendencies of the left.

Daily Kos boss Markos Moulitsas says Republicans understand that they’re “a minority, and a shrinking one,” and that therefore reducing Democratic turnout is crucial to future GOP electoral success.

Mark Sumner argues that ISIS “represents no threat to the United States," and that America has long suffered from “shaking-in-our-boots cowardice” over terrorism which has caused us to give terrorists “exactly what they want”: a massive military response.

The Missouri legislature may override Gov. Jay Nixon's veto of a 72-hour abortion waiting period. If that happens, it's another victory for social conservatives' quest to impose religious law in America.

In a Sunday-morning post, Daily Kos blogger Mark Sumner argued that the “threat ISIS represents to the United States” is “[e]xactly none” and urged us not to overreact now the way we supposedly did after 9/11 and consequently “hand over freedoms for an illusion of safety. The NSA reading your email and listening in on your phone, idiots mistaking a dropped t-shirt at the Mexican border for the prayer rug of invading Muslims, TSA workers who know you more intimately than your spouse. Those are bin Laden's victories.”
Besides, Sumner remarked, everyday food additives may be more lethal than jihadists: “You could probably make a compelling case that corn syrup is more deadly to Americans than all the terrorists who ever lived.”
