Michael Tomasky is not content to argue, in the wake of Mary Landrieu's defeat, that Democrats should write off the South as politically unfriendly territory.  In his Daily Beast item of today, Tomasky goes to great lengths to trash the region in the ugliest of terms.

"Reactionary, prejudice-infested, fetid, reject[ing] nearly everything that’s good about this country, just one big nuclear waste site of choleric, and extremely racialized, resentment," is how Tomasky slurs most of the South, saying "almost the entire region" is as he describes it.

If you want to have less Fergusons, you'll need more college-educated cops walking the beat. That's the essential thesis of Keli Goff's latest piece at the Daily Beast.

Earlier today, NewsBusters's Tom Blumer noted how the Washington Post's Zachary Goldfarb took it upon himself to fact-check a Saturday Night Live skit from the November 22 edition of the comedy show which made fun of President Obama's executive amnesty for illegal immigrants.

Well it turns out the Post is not alone. The Daily Beast's Jack Holmes took the time today to lament how "[o]n many of the finer points of this issue... SNL was wide of the mark."

“What do we want?”
“Darren Wilson!”
“How do we want him?”
“Dead!”

That's a call-and-response chant of radical, bloodthirsty protesters outside the police department in Ferguson, Mo., on Thursday, Nov. 20, as reported by freelancer Justin Glawe, writing at the Daily Beast.

The Daily Beast's Jay Michaelson warned his left-wing fellow-travelers in a Tuesday item that Pope Francis "does not intend to change fundamental Catholic doctrine" on human sexuality. His evidence: the Bishop of Rome spoke at a "bizarre" (in his words) conference where "a who's who of theological conservatives from a breadth of Western religious traditions" gathered to discuss traditional marriage.

On Friday, Lloyd Grove at The Daily Beast made fun of the rather slow launch of the Sarah Palin pay-TV venue. The headline is “Stuck in the Lamestream: Sarah Palin TV Barely Registers on the Web.” This is instantly mockable since The Daily Beast is the Tina Brown-run outfit that drove the print edition of the formerly hallowed Newsweek straight into the hard cement.

Left-wing academics Candida Moss and Joel Baden blasted conservative and traditionalist Catholics in a Sunday post on The Daily Beast website for their opposition to Pope Francis's change in tone on social issues. Moss and Baden made their loathing of orthodox believers clear by hyping how supposedly, "conservative Catholics have had their chastity belts in a twist over Francis and apparently, the chafing has finally grown too much to bear."

David Freedlander of the Daily Beast just doesn't get it. Gov. Dannel Malloy (D-Conn.) is the Left's "dream governor," pushing through "higher taxes on the rich....  [a] state earned income tax credit for the poor...higher minimum wage" and a laundry list of other "progressive" agenda items like "mandatory paid sick leave, repeal of the death penalty, more liberal marijuana laws, easier ballot access, a transgender rights bill, strict new gun control laws, and massive new spending on public education, higher education, and infrastructure."

So then, "Why isn’t Connecticut grateful?" Why is Dannel Malloy on the Democratic governors endangered species list this November?

"Maine's governor traps Kaci Hickox," insists editors of the Daily Beast.

Daily Beast liberal columnist Sally Kohn took to her keyboard today to insist that Christian clergy who own a wedding chapel do not have a constitutionally-guaranteed religious-freedom right to refuse to conduct business with same-sex couples.

On Friday’s edition of “The View,” both Whoopi Goldberg and Rosie O’Donnell expressed great surprise and horror at the reports from a nasty divorce that actor Stephen Collins admitted sexually abusing young girls.

This should be added to the growing list of scandals over sex abuse in liberal Hollywood. But at The Daily Beast, uber-feminist writer Amanda Marcotte tried to smear this dark new portrait of Collins all over the religious right and the Parents Television Council (founded by our MRC president Brent Bozell).

In a Thursday column for The Daily Beast, former CNN contributor Roland Martin attacked the supposed "cowardly bullies" at the National Rifle Association for opposing President Obama's surgeon general nominee. Martin's op-ed follows in the footsteps of MSNBC's Krystal Ball and NBC's Anne Thompson, who politicized the Ebola crisis nearly a week earlier when they bemoaned that due to "Senate dysfunction and NRA opposition, we don't have a surgeon general right now."
