W. Kamau Bell, a new CNN host, joined Don Lemon on his program on Tuesday to poke fun of the Iowa State Fair. Lemon touted Bell's "visit to one of the whitest places in America." The former Current TV correspondent, who hosted a show on the FX network named Totally Biased, cracked that people at the fair were "taking pictures of me. I don't think it's because I'm famous. It's because I'm a black dude."

Liberal writer John McWhorter spotlighted how the anti-racism cause has become a "new religion" during a segment on Tuesday's CNN Tonight. McWhorter underlined that "we have a religion in that, there is scripture; and there are questions you're not supposed to ask; and there is original sin...the scripture says that America is based on racism, and that racism is what America is all about today." He added that "the idea that you're supposed to engage or ask questions...that's considered...heretical....You're racist. You don't get it."

It took only 12 minutes into their live coverage on Thursday night of the deadly movie theater shooting in Lafayette, Louisiana before CNN Tonight invoked gun control and President Obama with panelists lamenting the lack of “sufficient common sense” on guns, the need for a “more realistic in a interpretation of the Second Amendment” and that the issue will go down in history as President Obama’s “biggest defeat.”

On Wednesday's CNN Tonight, Alan Dershowitz blamed police misconduct on societal racism. Dershowitz noted that he tells his students "particularly the African-American students: you have rights...Do not exercise them when you're arrested by a police officer." When Don Lemon asked him why he gives such advice, the Harvard Law professor replied, "Because they get into so much trouble if they don't do it. We live in a racist society, in which police officers often engage in this kind of conduct when you're contemptuous. And when you're a black person and you're contemptuous, it's even worse."

On Monday's CNN Tonight, Montel Williams targeted the activists who recently shouted down former Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley at the left-wing Netroots Nation conference for his "all lives matter" remark: "I'm sick of the fact that we now have to think that this term only belongs to one community. ABC, CBS, and NBC's morning and evening newscasts were too busy giving 48 minutes of coverage to Bruce Jenner's Vanity Fair photo spread to give one second of coverage to the four Americans currently being held hostage by the oppressive regime in Iran. NBC mentioned two of them – Amir Hekmati and Robert Levinson – back on the April 24, 2015 edition of NBC Nightly News. However, ABC and CBS haven't covered Hekmati's captivity since 2013, according to a search on Nexis.

Phillips underlined how "there was a time where they just used the word 'atheist.' And now, you are hearing 'humanist,' 'nons,' 'skeptics,' 'free-thinkers.'..this is all the same thing.
