Al Jazeera continues to find friends among the American news media. Former NBC anchor Tom Brokaw plugged the anti-western, Qatar-owned news network during a May 30 appearance.
Brokaw commented during a HuffPo Live interview by host Alicia Menendez about his many years as a journalist. When Menendez mentioned that Al Jazeera, which recently purchased Gore’s Current TV, “is going on one of the biggest hiring binges in the U.S., media-hiring binges,” Brokaw interrupted her to announce: “I watch Al Jazeera.”

Pope Francis made waves on Wednesday when he said that atheists can do good; but some media headlines jumped on the chance to portray the new pontiff as bucking Church teaching.
Preaching on Christ’s words that “Whoever is not against us is for us,” Pope Francis emphasized that Christ died to redeem all men, “even atheists,” and insisted we can’t assume non-believers cannot do good. Such people can do good, he said, and “must,” because of “this commandment at heart: do good and avoid evil.”

Add liberal host Bill Press to the list of liberals who want the sequester to hurt Americans in order to prove a political point. On Tuesday morning’s Full Court Press, his radio talk show simulcast on Current TV, Press predicted that the FAA furloughs that went into effect Sunday will be just the tip of the big, bad sequester iceberg:
“[Y]ou know what, it’s gonna get worse and worse and worse and worse and at some point, Americans are gonna be down on their knees saying please get rid of this sequester. It’s gotta happen; you cannot do these across-the-board mindless cuts without having impacts like we started to see yesterday.” But Press didn't stop there, insisting that he "hoped" such delays continued and that they become "un-freaking bearable in every way."

Keith Olbermann, the whiney, deranged former MSNBC anchor has settled a lawsuit he had filed against his former employer Current TV, taking home far less than he had been asking for.
According to the New York Post, Olbermann and attorneys representing the former owners of Current TV, which was sold to the Qatari-government-owned Al Jazeera network earlier this year, reached a deal to give him a $5 million payout instead of the $50 million he had sued for.
