Fox News reported a few weeks ago about how the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo., removed a Bible verse from a cadet's personal whiteboard. I am personally so disappointed that the branch of service that I served in to protect our freedoms is now trying to suppress them.

When one walks the dorm halls of the Air Force Academy, one immediately notices the hundreds of whiteboards hanging on students' doors. This past week, Rep. Randy Forbes, R-Va., cited Air Force officials who explained that cadets "often use these boards to display items, quotes or other things that reflect their personality or from which they draw inspiration." I guess the Bible is the wrong type of inspiration, at least according to some Air Force leaders.

Americans overwhelming identify themselves as Christian – 75 percent call themselves “Christian” or “Catholic.” Yet every year the government, law enforcement, the court system, and educators across the country dismiss citizen’s religious rights and punish them for living to their values. Fox News columnist Todd Starnes tells dozens of these true stories in his new book, “God Less America” to be released May 6.

In the book, Starnes consults studies by Tony Perkins of The Family Research Council and Kelly Shackelford of Liberty Institute that detail “more than 600 recent examples of religious hostility.” And much of that hostility comes from the top of government. “The Obama administration is trying to force religious organizations to provide insurance for birth control and abortion-inducing drugs in direct violation of their religious beliefs,” Starnes writes.

Any doubt that there is a serious problem with leftists imitating the Thought Police in George Orwell's 1984 and scouring the Internet to silence free expression pretty much disappears once you see what they were able to have temporarily removed from the Facebook page of Fox Radio's Todd Starnes. And while it's a relief that the post has been restored, consider how many others without the Fox host's visibility may be having their posts removed with far less recourse.

Full text of the post, which has since been restored, along with the takedown notice Starnes reports he received, follow the jump (HT Fire Andrea Mitchell via I Hate the Media; click to enlarge in a separate tab or window):

When the Associated Press reported on the upcoming “Sex Week” program at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, the reporter calmly noted that the “student-initiated” event will begin on Friday, April 5, and include several generic seminar topics.

However, when Fox News Radio's Todd Starnes described the same program, he indicated that it will include such controversial aspects as seminars by a lesbian bondage expert and a campus-wide scavenger hunt for a golden condom.

Dan Savage, the controversial sex advice columnist and noted anti-bullying activist, caused quite a commotion at a high school journalism convention in Seattle two weeks ago when he actually cursed at the youth audience as he spoke negatively about the Bible.

Citizen Link reported August 18 (video also follows with commentary, serious vulgarity warning):
